Re: How do you calibrate a chronograph ?

Agree...I notice my Chrony readings start to go weird as the battery fades. Sort of related is this new gadget supposedly coming out this year. It advertises a 0.1% error reading which beats the 5% standard hands down. Looks like you can set it up beside you and get a reading for every shot you fire...

Re: Hey From New Zealand introduction, & 300BLK build reques

Nice one! Sounds like it's all sorted. You reload? Because if you don't then getting 300BLK ammo at cheapish prices will be a headache. Plus you get to tune the ammo for your system. Give us a hoi of you want some loads using ADI powders, which you won't find on this website. Hogdens rebrands ADI un...

Re: FNG hunting build question.

Don't think I have the experience of gds but can add a little here. I am stuck with needing bullets of at least 210gr because of a 16" barrel, carbine-length gas. Nothing lighter that is subsonic will cycle reliably. I have tested the following; 210 Hybrid (no tumbling) 220RN Hornady and Sierra...

Re: Hey From New Zealand introduction, & 300BLK build reques

While getting parts into NZ might not be a problem getting them out of the States attracts State Department ITAR scrutiny. Many manufacturers refuse to deal internationally for all sorts of reasons that can be summed in the 'too-hard' basket and fear of being pinged for contravening ITAR. That said,...

Re: How do you calibrate a chronograph ?

Chronographs are factory calibrated with usually a 5% stated error rate, but you can check it against another.

Put them one in front of the other and shoot over both. Compare the two readings.

Re: Nightvision help

Thanks, interesting.

What do you use as an illuminator (other than the IR LED in the device)? I was thinking of getting the Laser Designs SPIR because of its focusable ability and high power (600mW).

Shooting with just the PVS14 is often difficult on a dark night or when game is under tree canopy

Re: Nightvision help

Where do you purchase these $1K tubes? Is it difficult to upgrade a PVS14 housing with an older non auto-gated tube? I have an older PVS14 with manual gain and have wondered how much of an improvement a newer auto-gate would be. I have heard thin-film auto-gate tubes don't last as long as the earlie...

How so?

Just checked TNVC and Optics Planet. They are the same price they've been for the last ten years.
