Re: Hornady 150gr sst
Western Powder's data for 1680 and 150 gr bullets starts at 19.4 grains and stops at 21.6 gr. Hope this helps you make a decision

..and not just great barrels, but a source for reamers for rent. What a bummer for all those folks.

Re: Finally, the perfect (compromise) 300 BLK AR
Nice! I like it, my 16" Hardened Arms carbine gas was stupid accurate but a bit over gassed. Adjustable gas blocks were not really with it yet at that time. I sold it to do another build, now just have a RARR and 10.5" pistol. Look forward to hearing about the meat in the freezer.

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK
I think backing off by one grain will put this 150 GD in that 2200+ range, reduce the pressure indicators and get the accuracy that 1680 and CFE-BLK has shown so far. It was disappointing to have to break down my set up before finishing. Curiously, the SW-BO did not require the use of the drop tube ...

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK
Lookin good for minute of venison! My last outing shooting the RARR, with the same powder, compressed charge that averaged 2275 fps, SD was 16 for those 5 shots. Accuracy was meh at 1.8" group at 50 yds, primers indicating I found the no go zone. Big game season opening this Sunday, the range w...

Re: RARR shoots MOA or sub MOA but has 8-12” fliers
Clearly, the first suspect would be the optic and or the mounts/rings. Secondly, if you are using a rest or bipod on the stock fore end, the barrel is likely in contact with the stock channel. Could be a bit of both above. Most of us have had to remove some material from the stock to free float the ...

Re: Optimum barrel length?
Both my pistols (BLK & 5.56) are 10.5", velocity loss is predictable and acceptable at that length for my purposes. I use a muzzle device that my can (Elite Iron Bravo)threads onto, it also comes with a linear comp style cap that helps reduce the ear whack much more than some of the brain b...

Re: N120 and Nosler 220 HPBT
VV data lists 200 gr FMJBT(Lapua) at 10.2 gr N120, 2.244 OAL and velocity of 1037 in a 14" barrel. I would consider that charge pretty close to make the 220 Nosler subsonic in a 16" gun. Perhaps a couple tenths more to start. I have used a similar number under some coated 200 gr LRN. www.v...

Re: Savage Arms
Nice 3 shot group, the GD is shooting well for us. My charge is 23.0 gr 1680, CCI 450. I'm photo upload challenged, but this load was <.450, with the same charge of CFE BLK being slightly larger due to the cold bore shot. Velocities of both loads both 2140-2150 fps. Dunno if I can get another 1/2 gr...
