Re: turning a rifle lower into pistol lower?

The BOLD statement above is incorrect. If the receiver EVER had a buttstock on it BEFORE a build as a pistol then the receiver obtains rifle status and not pistol status. True they might not ever catch you or be able to prove what happened first .. but if they can your F'ed. There is no such thing ...

Re: Failure to feed - 8" Barrel

Feeding: Check that the ejector moves freely. Check the gas rings for damage. Make sure you don't have both an extra power extractor spring and O-ring. Check the gas tube alignment. The shorter the gas tube the less flexible it is so it may bind in the key if it's not straight. Install a new known q...

Re: Newly built AR's short stroking?

If the cam pin slot is off it may still cause problems, just at a less frequent interval now that the cam pin has been "gunsmithed". I would send it back if you can.

Re: Fixed my short stroking problem

I think it's more likely a loose key or other problem with your auto carrier. The weight difference is not significant.

Re: Why all the hate for the 300 BLK?

The original ammunition for the Chris Murray guns were the same as the tac/combat loads. The 6.8 is back where it started with the loads that are available now. That is NOT TRUE. Murray never advocated higher than 55,000 psi pressure. It was never designed to be over 55k but the "original"...

Re: My Noveske 300 Blk won't lock back on last round , *FIXE

There is some interesting stuff happening with those bolt catch levers. Sometimes they work great, sometimes not. If I made them I'd consider spending some time with a bunch of different guns and a high speed camera to try and shed some light on what is going on.

gunmutt wrote:I understand 12" is too short for a carbine gas but what about on the 14.5" barrels out there. I know Wilson, Rainier, and BHW all utilize the carbine gas for this length. Does it work or is it not enough gas?
It won't be reliable with subsonic and no silencer.

Re: 300blk Subsonic short barrel

The myth that twist rate increases pressure is pretty common, but even if it was true all 300 BLK ammo is pressure tested in a 1/8 twist barrel.

Does the bolt catch move freely? A small flaw in the casting can cause it to drag and not engage.

Is there anything attached to the bolt catch?

Re: What grain for subsonic ? 220 min??

You really need to decide how much you want to shoot a lighter subsonic load. With a basically dedicated subsonic setup like below you can, but I would not shoot too much supersonic or expect it to be reliable enough for MIL/LE/defensive use. My gun will cycle jacketed 180's at subsonic velocities a...
