Re: 110gr ZMAX Failure to Fire only first round

I wound up buying a hornady case neck trimmer to solve my chambering issues. The variations in neck thickness between 223 to 300 blkout brass is pretty extreme. Some pieces would just barely touch the cutter on the runout while other brass would shave a curl of brass. Now I have almost no problems c...

Re: Thick necks and a tight chamber? are ‘complicating my life.’

Now that my brass’s problems are figured out now it’s gas cks that are being difficult. I used fine valve grinding compound on a bullet shank to open up my mould’s shank a couple of thousands. I can use the base of the bullet to pick up the gc’s out of the small tray that I’m using but after I size ...

Re: Thick necks and a tight chamber? are ‘complicating my life.’

My Hornady neck turning tool came today. Works like a charm. Turned 5 down, loaded them with my .310 170 gr cast and they feed fine. Mystery solved, now all I need to do is turn down a whole bunch more and then work up a load. Thanks all. I’ll post some targets soon. Update 11-11 turned 200 pcs so f...

Re: Thick necks and a tight chamber? are ‘complicating my life.’

Made a cerrosafe cast of my chamber, waited 90 minutes, mic’ed it and it looks legit. Might not be a generous chamber but the throat is .336. I will have to trim my brass necks to .009 to .010 thousands thick which will give me enough room for a .311/.312 cast boolit. I’m still going to have the bbl...

Re: Thick necks and a tight chamber? are ‘complicating my life.’

Also want to say that I’m using a rcbs small base sizer die as I’ve read comments suggesting a potential problem with the body of the case. I just removed my Wilson bbl from my Seekins upper to carry it to an AR themed gun shop about an hour away. I want to get the chamber checked out. Hopefully he ...

Thick necks and a tight chamber? are ‘complicating my life.’

I’m trying to build cast loads for my Seekins AR with a Wilson s/s bbl and am having a he!! of a time. After some research I finally figured out that a big part of my problem is that the brass I made my blkout brass from. I’ve got neck thickness ranging from .008 to .014 thousands. My resized cast 1...

Very light blackout loads

I've been trying to build some very light (100+-gr) lead loads for my Seekins rifle that will operate the gun but not damage my steel targets. Full power loads are no problem as I have a good load developed. I have replaced the standard bcg and installed a spikes light weight bcg and have been playi...
