Yep same here. 11.5" Colt upper and 9" AAC upper. Both with flash hiders. The 556 is all boom and concussion. The BLK is much more tame.
Can't see flash thanks to FH, but flash signature will definitely be brighter with 556. BLK burns its powder pretty quick. Varies with ammo though.

Re: American eagle 220gr
Darn. Was hoping the UMC 220gr stuff were the only ones to avoid.certifiable wrote:I bought 1 box to try in my 9" sbr. It functioned fine but several rounds went sonic.

Re: Remington premier match $0.33/rnd shipped (rebate)
I regularly get sub-MOA accuracy with this ammo when zeroing on my RARR at 100yds.

But thanks for the reminder. 6970 is still readily found online. Don't think the shorter stock was popular enough. Doubt there will be any higher prices.

Heck yea this rebate deal was a no brainer. Especially with the ammo on sale at a few sites. I had already marked 4/14 on the calendar weeks ago
This is the factory ammo you want for hitting steel up to ~500 yds. The ballistics are a little better than the UMC 120gr.

Re: Scope Dope requested.
I shoot at 100 to 200 meters at paper sitting at a bench and I want to see the tiny holes so I need some power. You need a spotting scope to clearly see those tiny holes. Just the max scope magnification usually won't cut it, unless it's like 20x+ but those are the huge bels. Getting a fixed scope ...

Re: Scope Dope requested.
I started off the same way with scopes. Bought a cheap BSA on amazon and thought i'm done. Would rather spend money on the rifle/ammo than the scope. Boy was I naive. The more you shoot using scopes, and perhaps other people's scopes, the more you'll start realizing why price ranges can climb up to ...

Re: Remington 220 OTM versus OT FB
To play Devil's Advocate, where does Remington claim the UMC 220 to be subsonic? It doesn't say so anywhere on the boxes I have bought. The yellow/green box 220 has subsonic printed right on the box. I suppose it's just a common sense thing. I mean.... 220gr c'mon  Plus the fact there's anoth...

Re: Remington 220 OTM versus OT FB
This has been discussed at length many times the past few years, on many different sites. Basically just stay away from the UMC 220gr boxes. No matter how cheap they cost. Worst factory ammo for BLK. The worst part is that many rounds go super/trans-sonic. Go for the yellow/green boxes only. Part# R...
