Re: Hornady 190 gr Sub-X load data
Was able to shoot between rain fronts today and the chrono was working good. This is the 11.9grain load with N120. Average fps: 1181 ES : 37 SD : 12.5 100 yard groups ran around 3/4" this load groups better at 37^F and lower It was 54 degrees so the velocity ran higher than before (avg. 1050fps...

Re: Hornady 190 gr Sub-X load data
The 11.6grain N120 load shot good at 50 yards then at 100 yards it started to open up. I decided to test adding 1/10 grain more with N120, loads were 11.7, 11.8, 11.9 and 12grains. I kept the ogive to base measurement at 1.543" ( my compairator measures 0.999" so lets go with 1.00". T...

Re: Hornady 190 gr Sub-X load data
Sunday afternoon at the bench finally produced a group that shows promise. I have kept using Remington 7-1/2 primers with all loads and switched to CCI 400 to see any change, yup velocities increased and vertical stringing with groups. Setteling on 11.6 grains of N120 printed a nice 1/2" group,...

Re: Hornady 190 gr Sub-X load data
Getting close to a good load with N120. I will say this is a clean burning powder for subs, after 30 rounds I don't have unburnt powder all over the magazine. What I find most annoying is when a C.O.L. is listed with the sub-x bullet as tip to base is a subjective measurement, it's that soft tip ins...

Re: Hornady 190 gr Sub-X load data
While waiting for sub-x bullets to arrive I measured a factory case at 1.359" my converted brass is 1.3655". Seating the bullet to the sweet spot ogive for this barrel is 2.090" C.O.L. that sets the crimp groove at the top of the case neck. I will start with N120 and CFE Blk since I h...

Re: Hornady 190 gr Sub-X load data
Have 200 sub-x in route and fresh once fired 223 Lake City converted brass. Only going to load for subs to keep case I.D. as minimal as possible, prep as usual flash hole deburr, primer pocket crimp swaged, case trim 1.365", neck turned to .012", annealed, collet neck sized with turned dow...
