Re: Tips for converting brass in bulk?

The RCBS expander that looks like this I can confirm will run both ways very nicely: http://www.gigstaggart.com/pics/ball.jpg Carbide buttons also work ok Bidirectionally, as do true elliptical sizers. Cylindrical mandrel expanders do not work at all on trimmed brass that has any inside burr. They w...

Re: Issue with S/B dies...

To get it set just right, get it roughly set right, then run a case all the way into the die, loosen the expander nut and screw it down until it touches the inner web. Unscrew it 1-2 turn if you are running all the same headstamp, or more like 2-3 turns if you are running mixed brass. It really does...

Re: Processing on Dillon 1050

Yes the setup for 5.56 is pretty much the same as blackout.

Trimming in one whack is not very optimal but you can do it.

Once you get to the point of needing to feed blackout in the case feeder, you'll need to pull the gate closed a little to avoid upside down cases.

Re: Alliant Power Pistol ?

H110 is a really slow pistol powder, slower than blue dot. Power pistol is closer to Unique in speed. You may be able to make some really quiet subsonics with power pistol in the 6-8 grain range. Won't cycle a gas gun. Be very careful, Power Pistol is not the same as Power Pro and don't get them con...

Re: Anyone use Imperial sizing wax with a 650 AND casefeeder

I use royal case and die lube. Feed lubed cases all the time, if anything it makes the case feeders run better when the plates are lubed. If it gets dusty up there I will clean it out.

Re: SS media tumbling

I've been trying to figure out the exact chemistry involved so I can develop a foolproof wet wash mix-in product to sell on my site. I'll give you all a little bit of my current theory. In general, a surfactant (detergent) is necessary to break down carbon and grease deposits on the surface of the b...

Re: Think I know the answer but who knows, times change...

Decapped thousands and thousands of live primers in my brass processing career. Never had one go off that way, not even crimped in ones.

Anything is possible of course, and take due precautions, but considering my experience, the odds are very much in favor of not setting one off that way.

You never know what kind of freak stuff will happen.

I've also had cut off heads flip over and get stuck on the decapping rod.

Re: Minor issue with bullet seating

To try and keep the bullet going in the case straight, I push in a little then rotate the base of the case about 1/4 turn, push it in some more, rotate the base another 1/4 turn, then seat it in all the way. I'm not sure if that's what's going on there but it might help prevent the bullet going in ...
