Re: Looking for a better powder measure
I have an RCBS ChargeMaster 1500 (0.1gr) and an Acculab VIC-123 (0.02gr) sitting on a 4" thick 12" x 18" granite slab and fed power by a Regulated Linear Bench Power Supply. I top off the charges with a Dandy 2 Speed Electric Powder Trickler. Windows need to be closed and in Summer th...

Re: 1/5 Twist and Supers
The Sig MCX's are 1:5 and mine shoots great.
RPM = Velocity (fps) x 720 / twist
Example: 2000 x 720 / 5 = 288,000
Some say Hornady says keep it under 290,000 RPM. I don't say that, but I keep an eye on the fast ones. Cast lead is probably less than half that.

"failure to fire", I must have missed that. Turning out the die a quarter turn is certainly wise, easy and cheap. Good suggestion to try. A case gauge better yet. The closer I look, this can actually be a pretty mellow load. Sorry, must have been my mental projection. Course loose primer ...

Same load, same chamber yet you have to wonder why it doesn't happen with every shot just a little?
Ya know, not everyone cares to run a fire formed case with a shoulder bumped 0.001".

Loose primers in AR's like to hide under the trigger in the recess left above the grip screw... preventing a trigger reset. You might think you can shake them out, but they dig in like a tick.
Hot loads quickly loosen up those primer pockets.
Check out Ballistic Tools swage gauge, go/no-go, $11.99.

Re: Subsonic cast plain base vs gas check?
Kind of curious to know how you know where they fell off. I was experimenting with those plain base gas checks coming out of winter a few springs ago. I first noticed them sitting on top of crusted snow, right there out in front of me. It wasn't a fluke. Ultimately I had quite a pile because I deci...

Re: Subsonic cast plain base vs gas check?
The gas checked NOE 311-230-FN's, powder coated and with gas checks, group tighter for me. I've shot piles through a suppressor without separation or a problem. But then I'm luckier than most folk ... Before I switched to the gas checked molds, I used the standard base version. With those, I ran qui...

Re: Lancer mags
Some of the shorter rounds can pile up on the magazine front during recoil in 300 Blk specific mags. Where the higher rib in the 556 mag, “restacks” them to the rear with each shot. I’ve found the 556 version to be a little more reliable with these shorter rounds that don’t rub, but this is nit-pick...

Re: Accuracy Woes
0.011" is a lot for base to ogive, especially within the same bullet lot. Did those bullets come out of the Philippines? Within a 5 shot group for accuracy, OAL and component consistency are material, but don't get hung up on a few thousandths batch to batch. Just use quality components. The go...
