Re: Any one using a piston system on a 300 Black out?
I know this doesn't apply to the OP's proposed usage, but I've heard that piston guns are harder to suppress due to the way they vent gas. Does anyone have more specific info on this? I have tried both and haven't noticed any difference (Adams Arms). Maybe with scientific equipment there will be a ...

Re: Subsonic hunting round
So even if expanding subsonic bullets dont do as much damage as a subsonic that we know tumbled through the animal, how do we get bullets to tumble? I have shot few game with my 220g load and most just sailed straight through. I imagine the 1:7 twist may keep the 220g from tumbling on impact. So wo...

Re: 220 Sierra RN Subs ??
I use 11.5 -12gr of 2207, OAL 56.5mm. Anything less will not cycle in a carbine-length gas.

Re: Any one using a piston system on a 300 Black out?
I've used an Adams Arms piston on a 300BLK carbine-length gas system. Doesn't cycle.
The piston requires more gas pressure to function. Plus the carbine length gas on a Blackout is on the edge of being under-gassed, especially subsonic.
My advice, don't use a piston on a Blackout.

Re: Nightvision help
I agree with the other guys...if you're going night vision then get the best or not at all. You can shoot night vision a couple of ways. The more affordable solution is to have the NVD mounted behind the aiming aid (Aimpoint or EOTech). You end up with tunnel vision but it works, especially for stat...

Re: 220 Sierra RN Subs ??
I've used both Sierra 220 RN Pro Hunters and Hornady 220 RN (essentially the same as the Sierra's). They work, but I have had more success with pointy projectiles than the round noses. The round nose tend to occasionally jam on feeding and have a tendency to misbehave in the magazines due to them be...

Re: Subsonic hunting round
Next installment in the quest to find a decent subsonic hunting projie This time, using Hornady 225gn FMJBT Match. 11.5gr of 2207, COAL 56.1mm. About 100 meters, shot through chest in the still of the early morning. round exited with a zinging sound (tumbling). Travelled from chest, deflecting along...

Re: 9 point vs subsonic cast lead powder coated hollow poin
Interesting...I had a SEE incident using Trail Boss not long ago. 110TSXT with 6.2gns of TB and CCI450 primer. Pulled the trigger and there was a hissing sound. plenty of smoke coming out of the barrels/upper and when the smoke cleared the round was pushed half-way down the barrel, where it stuck so...

Re: Kangaroo vs. 220 Outlaw State Subsonic
Hey Klem, I've had Kangaroo a number of time and it always came in small grilled strips like the size of chicken strips and was always over some type of salad. Is there any such thing as larger steak cuts or roasts that come from the animal? I ate all my roo over in Melbourne and Sydney, maybe it i...

Re: 9 point vs subsonic cast lead powder coated hollow poin
Interesting hunting and thanks for sharing. I calculate the final weight of your 247gn bullet when you drill out the hollow point to be 220.5 grains (147 - 26.5), yes? If you load at least 57mm OAL that is about 70% case-fill with your 4.9gn Red Dot load (Quickload). Have you thought of trying a pow...
