Re: ruger mini-300?
For $1k I can build a hell of an AR. I guess its nice if you cant have a pistol grip in your state. I may consider one if they come in wood.

Re: handguards
I like a 10.5-12" handguard regardless. That's what I need to put a light on there and get my support hand where I like it.

Re: My First AR-15 300 BLK Build
It's really tight and had to remove without a tool to get it started. So I'm using a pin with a built-in pull ring. The take down pin is stock though; it's not as tight. Huh, my New Frontier lower is the same way, with a standard metal LPK. Been thinking about a similar fix. Wonder what they screwed...

Re: Has anyone weighed their 7.5-8.5" builds?
What muzzle device are you using? I just bought a nice case that fits 24" firearms, so now I obviously need to build a 300BLK pistol that fits in there.Worn wrote: No idea of typical but my 7.5" barrel 300 BLK pistol came in at 5.04 pounds and 22.25" long.

Re: Advice for first 300 blk build
What is the purpose of the gun? Is this range only, HD/SD, police or .mil use? If its a fun range gun, alot of people have been running empty carbine buffers with an adjustable gas block. Cheaper than a lightweight BCG, lowers reciprocating weight. Maybe an upgraded buffer spring. Just start with it...
Re: Buffers
Or you run a carbine buffer and spring in a rifle tube with a spacer. Easily made out of PVC pipe or Spikes Tactical makes one that is purposely for this situation. It takes up the void left when using the shorter carbine spring. That's true, you could use a spacer. I had one cut out of delrin to m...
Re: Buffers
During firing, the bolt carrier group slides rearward and enters about halfway into the receiver extension. The buffer in the receiver extension is the correct length so that no matter how hard the BCG comes flying back, it will be stopped from entering too far into the extension by roughly 1/8"...
Re: Buffers
Depends on the length of the ACE stock. The shorter ACE stocks use a carbine buffer. The longer ones use a rifle-length buffer. If you were using a carbine buffer in an ACE rifle length stock, you would probably notice the BCG impacting the rear of the receiver. If you want an accuracy build, the ri...

Some RCBS equipment fell into my hands. What else do I need?
My dad decided last week that he wants to get rid of his reloading stuff, so I said I would take it. He's set up for pistol rounds, but i figured I can pick up whats needed to get into 300BLK reloading. He has (I now have) an RCBS Rock Chucker 2 with a plate and accessories that look like the Piggyb...
