Maybe it's just the perspective of the photo, but to me the letters look bigger than they need to be? To each their own, but I prefer 1/16". Can't be read unless you hold it up to your face, and the wife isn't going to put reading glasses on to tell if you made another SBR.... Hopefully you do...

I think it is probably fine too but after some of the comments want to see what people had to say. Wouldn't want to get thrown in prison over .0015 vs .003 :shock:

From comments I have read at a variety of websites, while laser etch almost never strictly satisfies the .003 depth requirement, no one has ever gotten burned for it. I found threads from at least a couple of people who had ATF look at the laser engraving and said it was fine. I could not find a tra...

The other concern with dabbing paint on is that the laser "engraving" is not very deep. The paint has the potential to obliterate it.

If the lower is black then just grab a can of black spray paint. Spray a Q-tip then dab it onto the area to be darkened. Mr. Clean to the rescue.

I was able to remove the offending material with a Mr Clean eraser pad. Didn't harm the finish at all but the casey junk is gone.

Now I will need to find the proper product for blackening the aluminum.
