Re: 78gn LeHigh Close Quarter Bullet

I am inclined to agree with you that inertia causes premature opening of the petals. To be fair however the baffle strike happened on the 8th round. Presumably the previous 7 were OK, at least until they exited of the can. Unfortunately I was chronographing and did not have a target board to see imp...

Re: 78gn LeHigh Close Quarter Bullet

Interesting... I calculate my RPM was 253,440 so might have been more to do with acceleration as opposed to RPM. AP100 is the slowest of ADI's pistol powders (AP = 'Australian Pistol'). Usually there is a Hodgdon equivalent but none for AP100. Burn rate equivalents to AP100 found here; http://www.ad...

love tha warm welcome to the forum! Welcome to the forum. Like any social group the forum has etiquette and you put your foot in it from the start. You weighed-in with no experience on a very specific topic and then attempted to hijack the thread. More specifically your comment that I shoot ....

Re: WTS-300BLK Piston Upper w/NIKON P300 Scope - Upper ONLY

Does the Adams piston work in a Blackout? I swapped mine out after trying it in 2013 and it failed. I posted this on the forum and at the time all other posters who had used pistons had similar experiences. Seems pistons need more gas than a DI system and the Blackout is undergassed to start with. D...

Re: 78gn LeHigh Close Quarter Bullet

from a philosophical standpoint, I would stay away from reloading self defense cartidges. If you ever did have to shoot someone, when you were in court the prosecution would tear you to pieces. They'd say you were at home concocting bullets that were intended on inflicting maximum damage, excessive...

Re: 78gn LeHigh Close Quarter Bullet

Klem I haven't shot any yet, will PM when I do and have results, will shoot out of the 10.5" 1/8 twist barrel of my build. Plan to try H110, Lil'Gun, and 2400 powders with a CCI primer and LC cases will start reloading within a few days. PS Plan to aim for a 2200fps average and also will test ...

Re: 78gn LeHigh Close Quarter Bullet

lol go through the effort to build a 300 blackout, modify .223 brass to shoot .308 bullets, then shoot .223 weight bullets outta it hahahah. Im all for experimenting and all that jazz, but a .223 is already a flat shooting cartidge that has proven bullets that expand and transfer energy. not crazy ...

Re: 78gn LeHigh Close Quarter Bullet

If you're gonna shoot a 78gr bullet, why not shoot a .223? I don't know, perhaps because I like the Blackout. Perhaps because I like experimenting. Perhaps because lighter and faster might knock down light-weight animals without the typical over-penetration of this calibre. Perhaps because this is ...

Re: 78gn LeHigh Close Quarter Bullet

I had problems with them opening early, as did some others. Pull your suppressor and get a target backing that is large, at least 2'x2' and shoot it from a few feet. There is a good chance you will find a round hole in the center and what look like knife cuts on the outside edges. I found petals be...
