Re: Can't get 150gr GD to sit still

theres no reason to remove the h2. the standard recipe for spring/buffer for this caliber is as follows pistol gas port = standard carbine spring, H2 buffer carbine gas port = standard carbine spring, carbine buffer tune it to cycle correctly with the h2 and happily ever after and stuff  hth

Re: 308 diameter projectiles; how to tell for which caliber?

landing in the cannelure isnt critical for good loading. that some projectiles with them happen to have an OAL that puts the cannelure at the case mouth in this caliber is often just a happy accident. if you havent already, make sure you reference the error data hornady published - both 9th and 10th...

Re: Hornady 150gr sst

one trick i use when checking die settings besides of course measuring the first loaded round and random OAL or CBTO sampling during loading... i load two dummy rounds. just brass and bullet - no primer, no powder. i use those the first to set my oal, and the 2nd to confirm it. if crimping i also us...

Well damit. I’m scared to look up for any corrections to my pet 308 165SST load. I dang sure don’t want to any changes.

Thanks for the update links.

why would you have to correct an already developed, tested, safe and working pet load?

Re: Hornady 150gr sst

The poly tip on the sst is just a little longer, the cannalure's are at roughly the same spot. ignore cannelure placement. its (mostly) irrelevant to this caliber. those cannelure's are based on typical bullet seating depths in cartridges like the 308, 30-06, etc.... we just happen to be cannibaliz...

Re: Important Primer question concerning suppressors

pure speculation.. however... i have to assume that dry firing a primer (no powder, etc) vs one thats behind a fully loaded cartridge are two entirely different things. i doubt theres much of anything that can be correlated between the two 2nd... i would think that a hotter primer, which provides be...

Re: Hornady 150gr sst

I have loaded and shot hornady fmjbt 150gn with 19.7 grains of 1680 with a col of 2.110, with no issues. no two 150gr bullets (or bullets of any given weight for that matter) are the same - even among the same manufacturer. thats why when you look at the 150gr bullets hornady offers the COAL for 30...

Hahaha, I bet that shocks more than a few people. I like that idea! Had my wife not been there, my answer might have been different, but I wasn't exactly sure what or if she was going to say anything. at this point, it might be well served to have a conversation with your wife about the approiate a...
