Re: Remmy 700 223 to 300blk DONE!!!!!

Congratulations on the project. What rate of twist did you end up going with? Have you fired many rounds yet? How's the ejection of spent cases for you? Are they being thrown clear of the action or do they end up on the magazine follower?

Re: AAC Micro 7 vs Rem 700 SPS: Which would you pick?

700 all the way. I understand why AAC tried the Model 7 first but it's been dogged with issues from day #1 and they still haven't resolved the feeding issues so many are experiencing. Personally, if I wanted a light weight Remington 300 BLK bolt gun, I'd start with a 700, use a light weight fibergla...

Re: might be crazy

A lot of guys talk about doing switch barrelled rifles but I think it's more of a novelty than anything else. I doubt many change out the barrels as often as they've intended to do - if ever. I think there are far better alternative choices for doing a 300 Blackout bolt gun. Unless of course, it jus...

Re: AAC Model 7 - "new" inventory out?

Try comparing the magazine assembly of the AAC M7 that you have now to one that is chamberred in .223 Remington. If they are indeed different, maybe you could try a .223 magazine & floor plate. This may improve your rifle's ability to feed with the 300 Blackout. When I built my 700 off a .17FB SPS d...

Re: Slow twist Blackout project thoughts?

I've already got several .308's now and I don't see a need for a short barrelled 300 WM. A .30BR might be a fun cartridge to play with at some point but I might just save it for another Blackout project and keep the barrel length at 16". I have more .30 cal. rifles than I really need so the whole id...

Re: I'm having a integrally supressed 300 made for me...

I take it this will be a bolt gun? A 16" integral would absolutely rock. Any idea as to what action you're looking to build off of? If it were legal for me to own integalls I would probably sell most of my centrefires to fund a few new projects.

Re: Slow twist Blackout project thoughts?

Thanks for the info Robert. I would have to agree that for the minimal gains it's not worth the effort. I'll shelve the idea and use the barrel for another cartridge.

Re: Slow twist Blackout project thoughts?

Yup, that's fine. Any idea what a person could expect for velocities going from 16" to 22" with 110-125gr. bullets?

Re: Omega Bergara Blackout

Very nice indeed. I'd like to get an Encore done in .45ACP at some point.

Plan on doing any hunting with the suppressor?

Re: Slow twist Blackout project thoughts?

Hi Robert, Yes, I was aware twist has little affect on velocity. I simply posted what I had for informational purposes. With the slower twists, I know it limits my bullet selection to the lighter weights which is fine because the whole intent of the exercise is to see how fast I can drive the smalle...
