Re: labeling and organizing test loads

That looks perfect.
I'm going to steal the template from you and start that process myself. I do all my what-if workups in Excel anyway, adding in the QuickLoad data to see where the differences are, so I'm already mostly there anyway.

Re: labeling and organizing test loads

Thank you. I have been keeping two separate ‘books’. One is simply a range book where I note which rounds go with which series number on the chrony data, as well as weather, target distance, etc. This book stays in my range bag more or less, I also keep a reload log as a separate record of what I do...

Re: labeling and organizing test loads

I have in the past also used just pics on my phone/cloud for storage...it works but can be difficult for large numbers of data sheets. Excel gurus have certainly utilized that format. I keep a reloaders log book for every load I make. I take it to the range with me, and record my observations on ea...

Re: labeling and organizing test loads

Thanks. I have tried that a few times, and I recently saw some some gadget like a concentricity case gauge that holds a sharpie which lets you put a hash mark or a stripe for every reload. When I prep test loads, I try to evaluate 2-3 bullet weights/types, as well as 2-3 charge weights with each bul...

labeling and organizing test loads

I have tried 3-4 different methods of sorting, segregating and labeling test loads in plastic case boxes when going to the range so I can keep the data straight. Sometimes it's a post-it note inside the lid, sometimes a pre-printed label from the plastic box maker, and sometimes a piece of tape with...

Miculek magnetic buffer

Anyone have experience with this in pistol or carbine length rifle?

Works well in AR 15, but I’m curious as to what can it can’t do in 10” suppressed 300 BO.

Re: Case dimensions outside SAAMI minimums-what's the risk?

Goos solution it seems to me. I plan to measure the headspace on all the 250 cases. The data I hit came from a small sample.

For cases that headspace shorter than SAAMI minimum, will there be a potential issue with extraction?

Re: Case dimensions outside SAAMI minimums-what's the risk?

None of the cases were fired in my gun. These were bulk range brass I ordered from Capital Cartridge in Austin Tx.

Extra case hardening referred to the brass that would come from trying to lengthen the case by resizing in a proper die set up.

Re: Case dimensions outside SAAMI minimums-what's the risk?

Thank you for the reply. It would seem therefore that a catastrophic failure is more likely if the headspace dimension is significantly less than minimum, which does make sense. So now for my confession...so that others may learn from my screwup. I have several thousand once/twice fired cases with w...

Case dimensions outside SAAMI minimums-what's the risk?

What's the risk of reloading once fired cases with headspace below SAAMI minimums, but overall case length is within specs, and final OAL with seated bullet will be within specs as well?
