Re: Home Defense Sub-Sonic Ammo

Before selecting the 300Blk AR pistol, I considered a KSG (https://www.keltecweapons.com/shotguns/ksg/), UTS-15 shotgun (http://www.utas-usa.com/pumpactionshotgun) and similar high-cap 12ga equipment. Besides destroying what's left of my hearing, there were scenarios I envisioned where 15 rounds wou...

Re: Home Defense Sub-Sonic Ammo

...I like my 300blk as a SD/HD rifle because i can run a short barrel and add a suppressor... The ability to suppress a sub-sonic round is what sold me on 300Blk for HD. Over-penetration isn't a concern of mine in fact, if the bad guy is behind a door/wall, I want penetration. My original request f...

Re: Home Defense Sub-Sonic Ammo

if you want a 45 acp energy/terminal balistics with a fancy bullet, get a 45 acp and load it up with a fancy bullet and use that. My OP explained that I'm shifting to the 300 Blk AR Pistol since I can mount a laser/light and run a 30 rnd magazine. With my 1911, I'd have juggle a separate light and ...

Re: Home Defense Sub-Sonic Ammo

SMK 220 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1Q7xRmZAtk While the 220g is a sub-sonic round, it's a range round (Sierra HTBP Match King) intended for accuracy. I'm looking for 300 Blk sub-sonic Self-Defense / Home Defense rounds specially designed to expand at sub-sonic speeds (e.g. Hornady 190g Sub-X,...

Re: Home Defense Sub-Sonic Ammo

...Makers with their tougher petals or maybe the fracturing variety Thanks. I didn't know of them as a source. They don't provide recommended loading info on their website...something to track down. If there's a violent home invasion, over-penetration (through interior walls, wood-core doors) isn't...

I've heard that sub-sonic ammo over-penetrates before, but with 500ft-lbs or less of energy, they wouldn't be much different from .45 ACP rounds. Where's the evidence to support the claim that sub-sonic ammo over-penetrates?

Home Defense Sub-Sonic Ammo

I added a 300BLK AR pistol to my arsenal, primarily as my home defense firearm. The bedside 1911 (8 rnds) wouldn't cut it in a home invasion event. 30 rounds with a mounted light/laser on the AR pistol and the ability to grab an extra 30 rnd magazine makes more sense. I plan to add a suppressor in t...

Re: 300BLK Subsonic Newbie

...if you are using it for self defense I would not use reloads.
Thanks. I should have stated that the reloads will be for range use only. I'll use factory loads for home defense.

Re: 300BLK Subsonic Newbie

Hey guys I'm pretty new here and to reloading. I'm wanting to load some sub300 and have been reading here, other online articles and various load data. I'm also new and want to learn what equipment and supplies I need for subsonic 300Blk. I don't need to make a lot of rounds, but have decided to bu...
