A bit of an update....
I got a titanium carrier, this was a big improvement. Not only does it need less gas to cycle but it doesn't slam into battery as hard and rings less.

Re: Liberty Chaotic Ti or Dead Air Nomad 30, or?
FWIW I now can have more than one wipe at time. I have two VOX cans with of course two stamps, so I can have two intact wipes. I can for example have one in one can, and one lose if the other can doesn't have one in it. Freezer isn't a bad idea, and I had thought of doing the center hole first then ...

Re: loud / quiet
Seems to me the question you're really asking is 'is it possible to be hearing safe and what does it take'. My answer is a very good can with subsonic ammo and a single shot rifle. Put those together the the sound is roughly equal to hitting a 2x4 with rubber mallet. Even with a good can and subs th...

Re: Best upper/lower?
As for the rest, building an AR isn't rocket surgery. My best advice in that regard is to invest in the right tools. You'll need jigs to hold the upper and lower. A reaction rod is worth the investment, as is specialized punches for the gas block tube pin, no matter how good of stuff you get that pi...

Re: Best upper/lower?
To me the best lower is easy, it's the Radian AX-556. https://radianweapons.com/receivers/lowers/lower-receivers Like other high end lowers it's very well made with all the right flares and dimensions, and has things like the threaded bolt catch pin and one piece trigger guard you see in others. But...

Re: Liberty Chaotic Ti or Dead Air Nomad 30, or?
Haven't done it yet but was thinking I'd use a hole saw in a drill press. A hole saw with the ID I need to fit the can and with what I'm thinking I'll use a center drill bit the size of the meplat. To be clear the can I ended up going with is the Energetic Armament VOX, I actually have both variants...

Re: Quieting AR Action
Bolt action? One that takes AR type mags. I think I saw a scout rifle that does but I don't remember ever seeing one chambered in 300BLK. Maybe now they exist? But a new barrel is easy enough for a gunsmith to install. Or a single shot like a Contender or Encore. Buy the barrel you want. I have no ...

Re: Quieting AR Action
I already use the JP SCS setup. The most offending noise appears to be a kind of port pop. The gas pop from the action opening is a lot louder then then just the sound of the bolt slamming home. The loudest sound I assume is from the gas released when the bolt opens to the ports in the carrier. My b...
