Re: Primers ?

My best luck has been just showing up. I didn’t buy any, but may go back and do so, but a local shop (well, within 30 miles) had CCI 41 on the shelf...$50/brick. Pricy...but the first I’ve seen on a shelf since March. I’m thinking those CCI 41s would serve just fine for 300BO. They had CCI 550s as w...

Re: Powders For the 300 blk. Links to published Data added.

I have the following powders on hand which I've used for testing 300 Blackout loads in 8.5" 1:7 and 10.5" 1:8 pistol barrel ARs. IMR 4227, VV110, VV120, IMR 4198, CFE-BLK, H110, A1680 I've loaded a variety of projectiles 110gr FMJ RN (30-30 bullets), 120gr Powerbond RN, 150gr Hornady Inter...

Re: H110 and 120gr Powerbond Flamethrower

EPIPHANY..... I checked all of my load sources to determine how I came up with 14.7gr, which is well below all starting loads for 110gr and 125gr bullets. Then I went to my Stevespages.com account and found a potential answer...and a reminder of why we write down, print out, or highlight recipes dur...

Re: H110 and 120gr Powerbond Flamethrower

If you are going to venture away from the magnum powders, be sure to stay within the published data for the faster burning powders. Yes...I got that. I've bene using all of the recommended 300BO powders for 150gr and up, ie. IMR 4227, IMR4198, A1680, CFE-BlK, then I found a lot of small shorties th...

Re: H110 and 120gr Powerbond Flamethrower

H110/W296 is a "theatrical" powder. You may have to find a softer load using a different powder to get the flash/bang to diminish. I haven't really looked for anything else, so I can't send you anywhere. “Theatrical” powder...I love it! Yes, it was certainly that...someone suggested magnu...

H110 and 120gr Powerbond Flamethrower

Hey guys, I’ve been gone for a while. Finally got my wife interesting in shooting (small caliber handguns) and have spent the last year finding and making up soft loads that she’ll shoot. Quite satisfying as she now fully embraces my hand loading passion. Okay, on topic... New 300 AAC Blackout loads...

Re: Thoughts on Annealing Nickel Cases

Found this response from Oct 2013 on AR15 site.. coug91: Nickel 223 makes some killer 300BLK brass. It forms well, takes an annealing just fine, and looks nice... I have used nickle 22-250 brass and have been very happy with it, so see no reason to see any other result with nickled 223 Works for me....

Re: Thoughts on Annealing Nickel Cases

Thanks for the responses. It was an impulse buy...the price was too good to be true. Maybe now I know why! Too bad. Anyway, I have plenty of brass, including 225 new Norma cases. I think I’ll test a single case and see whether it will even form after cutting. And I’ll skip the annealing until I find...

Thoughts on Annealing Nickel Cases

I bought 1000 once fired Speer Nickel .223 Rem cases that I plan to cut to form 300 Blackout. I'd like to anneal the cases after cutting. Most of the times that I've cut down brass for re-forming it hasn't been necessary to anneal them, but as Nickel cases start out harder, I'd expect to have a shor...

Aguila 150gr Ammo for 300 Blackout

Bought 3 boxes of 50 of this ammo from Gander Outdoors. Had a chance to shoot isn’t Sunday. The first round fired fine. Not so much the second - blew the primer out and apart into my AR. Anvil went upper, cup went lower. No signs of anything amiss except for a really black primer pocket. Got home to...
