Re: A couple questions....

UPDATE: Loaded up 500 rounds, had exactly 5 that the bullets where loose in the case. I resized them again and they where fine. Not sure exactly why those 5 had to be resized twice, but it turned out not to be as big a problem as I first thought. Thanks for all the help.

Re: A couple questions....

Sorry, guys, I failed to mention that the 125s I loaded with once fired brass I bought from Midway. The 150s I am trying to load now are with brass I made myself from .223. All the brass is mixed headstamp. Kind of have a problem about re-sizeing the brass again, as I have primed all of them! Easy....

Rob Leahy and Simply Rugged holsters

Guys, I just wanted to publicly say what an outstanding guy Rob Leahy, of Simply Rugged holsters, is. I first encountered Rob several years ago on the sixgunner.com site. In a post I said in passing that I was toying with the idea of making my own holsters. Rob messaged me and offered to help in any...

Re: A couple questions....

My next thickness is .010, give or take. Just checked 4 or 5 cases, ID runs from .305 to .307 on those. I did not resize them after turning the necks, but I did before. The outside diameter of my mandrel on the Hornady neck turn tool is .306.

A couple questions....

Making my own 300 Blackout brass from .223 has been a PITA, but I finally got a few hundred done. I ended up having to buy a Hornady neck turner because so much of the brass was too thick in the necks. (Actually, my wife bought it for our anniversary! Now, that's a great wife!) I was using 125 grain...

Re: USING COPPER FOULING CLEANERS

I have for years used Hoppe's #9 to get out the powder fouling. Once the powder is almost gone I use a copper cleaner from Pro-Shot products. Once it starts to come out clean, I use CLP to oil the bore. Have had no issues.

Re: Is a crimp die required?

This is just me, but I always crimp any semi auto cartridge, to include .223 and 300 Blackout. For my bolt actions, I do not. Keep in mind that you are relying on neck tension alone to hold the bullet in place. Say you load up a 30 round mag and shoot it. Each time you shoot it the bullets in the ma...

Got to shoot my Blackout today

Well, my first time out with my new 300 Blackout. I put a Nikon 3-9x40 on it, had some 125 grain Speer bullets loaded up in front of some W296. After I got it dialed in, I had two 3/4 inch groups at 100 yards, 3 shot groups. I was very impressed, to say the least. I had one box of Remington 220 grai...

New to Blackout

Been shooting and reloading for 35 years, but have never shot or reloaded for the 300 Blackout. I got a great deal on a stripped lower, and was tired of building 5.56 rifles and pistols, so I found another really great deal at CDNN on a 300 build kit. Just got it done today. I loaded up 100 rounds o...
