Supersonic vs trans-sonic vs subsonic

This is a Youtube video of a test I conducted of the different sound levels with 220 gr 300 BLK loads shot through a suppressor with an AR15. There are more details on the test and the equipment in the video description. The key to this test is the sound level was set manually, so the actual sound l...

Re: Lehigh 194gr in LC resized cases

Well it just so happens I am still tuning the 300BLK, 220 SMK, VV N110 load. At 100 yards I have it down to about 1.5" MOA with a 5-shot group. Velocity is ~1050 fps average with a SD of ~9. If I throw out one flyer, it is a ~1/2 MOA group. I would be happy to post up an image of the target gro...

Re: Lehigh 194gr in LC resized cases

Yes, same here. It needs to be quiet in this spot. If noise was not an issue I would use something, well, louder.

Re: Lehigh 194gr in LC resized cases

Would the 194gr Lehigh do ok going through the spine/behind the ear? I've only done supersonic hog control and would like to be more stealthy. Knock on wood but I haven't had an issue with shot placement. I'm old, practice and have patience. For what it is worth, that is what happened here. Skip to...

Re: Lehigh 194gr in LC resized cases

Hey if someone used these in a subsonic 300BLK load to hunt pigs and they were unsuccessful, I would like to hear the details. I am all for learning from other's mistakes.

Re: Lehigh 194gr in LC resized cases

it the shield on a big pig and the Lehigh will stop. Might want to research some lead heavies. . Not trying to cause trouble but I think the OP was going for a close distance well placed head/neck/spine shot and specifically not trying to go through the armor. Correct. Plus I am not looking for lar...

Re: Lehigh 194gr in LC resized cases

There are not many long shots in this part of Texas either since this particular area is covered with dense brush and trees. There are exceptions where there is pastureland between the hills, and people have cleared land, but otherwise the shots are typically short. Despite belief to the contrary Te...

Re: Lehigh 194gr in LC resized cases

Well, I have done my homework, there is evidence to the contrary, we have both clearly stated our positions, so I think we are done with this discussion. Thank you for your input.

Re: Lehigh 194gr in LC resized cases

OK so I am confused. Are you talking about shot placement, or energy transfer, or both? I am trying to communicate that I am talking about both per my OP. Maybe I am not being clear. Let's take some examples of projectiles commonly used to take hogs with good shot placement: 1. 22LR: muzzle energy ~...
