pig's shield is a concern with the ME. expands, but does not penetrate to vitals. some of the larger ones I have seen my friends photos, you can actually see outline of shield on chest, base of neck, and covering shoulder he sent me photo of recovered boar with 2 ME's that only went about 4" in...
