230 gr. cast HP

I've worked up a good sub load for a 230 gr cast HP using 7.0 gr WC 820. I'm looking to up the velocity into the super sonic area for hunting use. Does anyone have experience in this area. Specifically the bullet is the MiHec 235 gr gr cast HP ( MP molds ). I'm shooting a CZ 527 bolt rifle.

Re: Savage Arms

I own several Savage rifles that are amazingly accurate for factory produced firearms. If I didn't already own 2 300BO rifles I would give serious consideration to Savage's new addition. But ...... I'll have to check and see if one more would hurt.

Yankee Hill Phantom

Does anyone have experience or opinion on the Yankee Hill Phantom suppressor in 30 caliber. I can get one from a dealer new for $265 plus the tax man's cut.

Re: sizing

.004 is very doable but you might want to slug your barrel and get a measurement. Most people size .001 to .002 over the slugged bore diameter. I powder coat before sizing. Less chance of contamination the less you handle the cast bullet before coating.

.204 Ruger brass

I recently picked up a large amount of .204 ruger brass at a range I frequent. I cut several and ran them through a FL die and they seem to form to 300 AAC. My question is, is this a safe practice. The head size is the same and I hate to scrap usable brass.

Impact tests

I have seen videos on youtube of people performing impact tests of various projectiles with ballistic gel. Most of these people shoot at the gel at maybe 50 yards. They use reduced loads to simulate impact velocities at other ranges. My understanding of ballistics is that the RPM's of a projectile h...

Re: accuracy with cz 527 or should i say lack of accuracy

Lack of accuracy didn't come with mine. I'd try another scope and maybe bed the action before delegating it to the rear of the gun safe. There has to be something that is having effects on the accuracy. Maybe consider contacting CZ and see if they can examine the rifle. My 2 cents worth.

Re: Loading Long gun on a progressive

Back when I was really anal about my reloads I did everything on a single stage Rockchucker press. I measured every charge of powder and used only the best components. I did an awful lot of reading and I was shocked to read that most bench rest shooters would rather use an equal volume of powder rat...

Re: Wal-Mart and Dick's sporting......and red flags !

I have been on Dick's email list for awhile. Today I unsubscribed and when doing so I was asked why. I told them the truth. It's because of their recent firearms and ammunition press release. I told them to suck as many dollars as they could from the anti gunners buying t-shirts and golf clubs. I wi...

Re: This is why gun owners need to unite, even if we have to buy advertising

A general that can't shoot correctly or talk about his weapon in the correct terminology? Wow ... kinda like the grunt that doesn't know which fork to use in the officers club. Yes gun owners need to unite. My opinion is that the NRA is where we should all unite. Do you have to like every thing abou...
