Re: New bolt gun / what to choose?
I like my Savage and would buy another if it were lost or stolen. Shoots great and the price was decent. Can't ask much more than that.

Re: Savage Arms
I have not experienced the scratching issue with the stock. They are not painted, just your run of the mill cheap synthetic stock. I just checked mine, I could not leave a mark on it with my fingernail.

Hornady sub x bullets
Anyone else hear that sub x bullets will be available for reloading soon? Midway shows them available 11/03 for $34 per hundred.

Re: Light Subs--Powder Recommendations
I use vihtavuori n-110 for 190gr noslers. It is clean, quiet, and cycles the action.

Re: Savage Arms
Nice 3 shot group, the GD is shooting well for us. My charge is 23.0 gr 1680, CCI 450. I'm photo upload challenged, but this load was <.450, with the same charge of CFE BLK being slightly larger due to the cold bore shot. Velocities of both loads both 2140-2150 fps. Dunno if I can get another 1/2 g...

Re: Savage Arms
Did some load development for Speer gold dots this morning. Best load came in at .44 moa at 100 yards! Only a three shot group, so I need to load some more of that load to prove it or see if I just got lucky. I also shot another five shot group with Hornady sub-x. It was right at 1 moa. https://i.po...

Re: Savage Arms
Well, I loaded up a few rounds tonight with 8.1gr n-110 and 190 nosler custom comps. Shot two over the Chrono to check velocity, running about 1000 fps. Second shot of the actual group had a light primer strike so I ended up with only a four shot group. Must need to adjust my sizing die a little. Th...

Re: Savage Arms
Dellet, you are correct. I didn't mean to sound too modest. They are some fantastic groups, just thinking I can tighten them up a bit with handloads. Maybe not, time will tell. I need to do some load development and see what that brings. The factory Hornady is way too loud for my liking with my aac ...

Re: Savage Arms
Managed to only get 12 shots through the Savage today. Mounted a Vortex strike eagle 1-6 scope. Shot two sighters then the two five shot groups. Range was 100yds using Hornady 190 sub-x. Looks pretty promising, I'm guessing most of the horizontal dispersion was due to my rusty trigger finger. https:...

Re: Savage Arms
I just picked one up today. Hopefully get a scope mounted and a few rounds through it this weekend. The mailman is supposed to leave me a 51t mount for my suppressor tomorrow. Will try some of my reloads for my 10" ar pistol. I'm guessing they might go super though. Will report back.
