Re: RCBS small Base Die - worth it or not?
... but I also switched from Hornady One Shot to Imperial Case Sizing Wax, so that too may be why. i have never stuck a case with Imperial, but have stuck several rifle cases over the years with Hornady spray lube. As long as each case is covered, spraying works, but you just can’t see if something...

Troy Claymore muzzle brake
Has anyone had any issues with accuracy from a Claymore muzzle brake? My 16" carbine had a Kak Flashcan on it, and it was extremely accurate in that configuration. Unfortunately, I didn't really like the looks of that chunk of aluminum hanging out there, so I went ahead and swapped it for a Tro...

Re: Nosler 220 RN bullet, first thoughts
Well, I can officially confirm that 1680 is a no go, as well. This bullet is just so long, it doesn't leave you any case capacity. The 1680 seems to be slightly less dense than the 296. 15.5 grains of 1680 is a tight squeeze, and that's not enough to give you a significant speed increase over the 29...

Thanks again for the info. I will post results as soon as I get a chance. It may be a while, though - work has me running more than usual, these days.

Re: Nosler 220 RN bullet, first thoughts
What are you shooting these out of? I'd like to shoot them out of my pistol build, if I can get them to run well. It's a 10.5" barrel, 1:8 twist. I am a bit concerned that the 1:8 rifling may not be quite enough to stabilize them. If I had thought out the barrel purchase a little more, I might...

Re: Nosler 220 RN bullet, first thoughts
At this point I can confirm that attempting any kind of compressed load with this bullet is a definite no-go. That's a real bummer, because this is one loooong bullet, and it eats up a lot of case capacity when you seat it to a COAL of 2.100". Max loads of H110 and W296 fit just fine, but you c...

Re: Nosler 220 RN bullet, first thoughts
Thanks for the info. That should be a big help. Please post if any of that helps. Sadly I think a lot of the problems with this bullet has been operator error. The bullet has a certain amount of potential, but finding the kinks has been a challenge. I will post results when I get a chance but, to b...

Re: Nosler 220 RN bullet, first thoughts
What seating die are you using to seat those? I have a box that I'm trying to make some test loads out of, and I'm getting a lot of jacket damage. At first I thought it might be the die, but now that I see your post, I wonder if its not compressed loads + ultra thin jacket.
