my final thoughts on this mold are...If you not willing or capable of gas checking and powder coating this mold then don't waste your money. Otherwise your taking your chances.....

After putting on a gas check and powder coating them I was able to get them to stop tumbling.

Re: Lee C312-155-2R
natchomamma, "Is this an issue? How much would this effect accuracy?" Short answer is NO and NO. I use the 'shake n bake' method and with color pigmented powders will have 'thin' spots in the color. But on close examination, the polyester is coating well, just not the pigment. My answer t...

Re: Lee C312-155-2R
I have started to powdercoat and mine look similar to the pics in this thread. i.e. some are not smooth and not a consistent coat.
Is this an issue? How much would this effect accuracy?
Thanks.

Re: Lee Blackout mold (TL309-230-5R) any good or needs mods???
thats almost 100% likely your problem. you need to bell the case mouth's so its not shaving. and then crimp them. a lee universal expander will do what you need to do, just set it so can get a full seat with no shaving and then a light crimp with a Lee Factory Crimp die to remove the belling. less ...

Re: Lee Blackout mold (TL309-230-5R) any good or needs mods???
They drop out of the mold at .309. When I seat the boolit it "shaves it". I recently pulled a seated boolit and it measures .305 after shaved. I have not fired any yet but will try belling the neck so it does not "shave".plant.one wrote:have you measured the diameter? what size are they?

Re: Lee Blackout mold (TL309-230-5R) any good or needs mods???
the lee 230-5r is not a gas check mold. Trying to run them without gas checks (or PC) results in gas jetting - the boat-tail contributes to this. While it is not a "gas check mold" per-say, it does accept gas checks. http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh259/blcall/SN852163.jpg there is ex...

Re: Lee Blackout mold (TL309-230-5R) any good or needs mods???
the lee 230-5r is not a gas check mold. everyone seems to PC them. i'm sure someone will chime in, but i seem to recall a fair number of posts of folks having success with that mold/bullet when powder coated at the very least a few things that may help others diagnose your issue for you.... what po...
