Re: 11 day blackout hunting

We take whatever meat we want and leave the rest to the blow flys, wasps and hawks.

Red stags weight anywhere from 180 lb to 450 lb . Average 260 lb
We have 4 different breeds of feral goat and most average 50-60 lb

Re: Anyone shooting subs in Bolt action?

I shoot subs all the time. Mostly 208gr ELD’s for targets and goat culling and Lehigh 168gr CF for deer. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49684270767_a67d301207_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49113787288_7aebd214fc_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48771769491_7b82d49664_h.jpg ...

I’ve had a few bang flops with Lehigh Defence 168gr CF and 194gr ME.

Re: 300 bo subsonic and hunting help

Like said above a proper designed projectile, knowledge of proper shot placement. Because using subs shooting at longer ranges beyond 120m and range finder and range card and/or ballistic app like Sterlok to know your drops, a dial up scope or a ballistic reticle scope. Lots of practice at intended ...

11 day blackout hunting

Hi yah all This time of year in our country New Zealand is the red stag rut or roar as we call it over here. It was still early before the stags were in full roar mode when they roar all day and night. So the plan was to get a helicopter into the back blocks of public hunting land and spend 10 to 14...

Re: In search for a sub minute 200 yard subsonic bullet

I get my best sub 1/2 MOA accuracy is with 208gr A-max and ELD reloads running them in a semi custom Tikka T3 with a 1:7 twist 12” ultra match standard profile barrel. I also get sub MOA with Lehigh 194gr ME and 168gr CF for deer stalking. I don’t really do anything special reloading wise other than...

Re: Anyone have poor results with Lehigh Defense 300 Blackout 194gr. Subsonic Maximum Expansion on Deer?

I’ve had two runners that I didn’t recover because of bad shot placement to far back into the guts and was in a place (National Park) that wasn’t allowed dogs for tracking. Same deal spent two day looking for them and always cursing that I made a terrible decision. In saying that I’ve only lost 1% o...

Back into it again

After nursing my knee from surgery back in September. Have been doing a lot of rehab mountain biking, leg strengthening and walking around at the forestry where I shoot long range targets, test and chrony loads. The main 300 blackout load testing was 125gr SST running at 1980fps and getting under MO...

Re: Anyone else notice lack of blood trail using subs?

I’ve had best blood trails with Lehigh 194gr ME but it’s never gonna be a 100% guarantee. Want more blood do a double tap, two holes are better than one. The Lehigh 169gr CF work really well but blood trails are minimal. Have not used any other subsonic expanding projectiles.
