125 gr Trail Boss for AR?...cycle or not?

Hello, Long time since I've posted here...good to see most of the members that I knew still here! I seem to to into and out of calibers over the years and I'm back in the 300blk world again. I have two AR's, a 16" and a 9". I had a RARR but sold it. Going thru my reloading stuff, as I want...

Re: Thinking of a New AR

I was in the same boat as you a few years ago. I had one 300blk and one 5.56. The 300blk was/is a 16" barrel with a Sightron scope also (love them!). I bought a 9" AAC upper with the intention of a red dot and tripler and just putting it on an existing lower when I wanted it in that config...

Re: 308 Win - Where to start

I like to START with the overall length...then vary the powder charge...then FINE TUNE the overall length at the end. I use one of those Stoney Point (now Hornady?) OAL (Overall length) gauges and get the ogive of the bullet to be about .030" off the lands and start there. (Making sure they cyc...

Re: Good Red Dot and magnifier systems

That holosun reflex sight looks good! I'd get that over the eotech any day. I think you made a great choice and should be very happy with it!

Re: Good Red Dot and magnifier systems

I don't have astigmatism (that I am aware of...) however, red dots of any kind are never truly a "dot" to me. They are more like a "comma" ( ,) than anything. That is one of the reasons I really like the Romeo XDR is because I've always struggled a little bit with just a red dot,...

Re: Good Red Dot and magnifier systems

I have two of those Romeo5 XDR's. For those that don't know the DR part of the name stands for Dual Reticle. It can either be a dot, or a circle dot like an Eotech. Also it has "instant awake". You can leave it on to the setting of your liking and put it in your closet and it turns itself ...

Re: Well the Boy asked for my Daughters Hand.

Congrats and what an awesome story! I can totally relate as I raised 3 daughters (and no sons) myself. I had the same attitude about boys and young men...and still do. The 3 sons-in-law that I have now seem to be perfect for each of my daughters and they are all happy, but not without challenges. My...

Re: Pics of my completed HD Shotgun...

Thanks, and WOW! Those are some great looking shotguns!...kind of makes me think I'm not quite done with mine yet! Years ago when I had my neighbor/gunsmith help me out with the shortening of the barrel, the rest of the shotgun was so rough that the leftover marks from the work didn't even matter to...

Pics of my completed HD Shotgun...

Hey all, This post is a follow up to some questions I had posted and asked about earlier (Flashlight Lumens, etc.). I wanted to post up the finished product. This New Haven 600A (Mossberg 500) started out life with traditional wood furniture and a full choke 30" barrel. I used it as a backup to...

Re: PGO shotgun with 14" barrel

I did a bunch of mechanic work for an old friend once back in the 80's and he gave me a field grade New Haven with a 30" barrel (Mossberg 500 basically) to settle up the bill. I was into Pheasant Hunting pretty heavily back then and used it for years as a back up to my Remington 1100. When I pu...
