Re: Savage PCS

I bought one as soon as they were available. It shoots well and I really like the left-hand bolt. I would prefer that it take AR magazines, but oh well. I'm not happy with the finish in the bore as it pretty rough. I shot some PC'd cast subs and had lots of leading. Recovered bullets shot into crumb...

Yes, that's bad. While I haven't applied HTC, I have done lots of powder coat. What you are seeing would be considered failed coating adhesion in my book.

Re: 266 grain cast bullet, the Dolomite special

The coating and lead are so soft the the bullet will "strip" and deform in the rifling. I've seen this happen will plated bullets as well. It's not pretty. Your target will look like a shotgun blast from a single shot.

Answering my own question...they now make them for the CVA Scout pistol.

Re: Handi-rifle: Off-center firing pin

Good input, dellet. The gun is new and has maybe 100 rounds throughit. I do have a hammer spur that maybe I'll remove, though I think the key is getting the firing pin to hit in the center of the primer.

Handi-rifle: Off-center firing pin

I finally took out my new-to-me Handi-rifle out shooting and found that I had to cock and pull the trigger twice in order to get the round to fire. When looking at the primers, I found that the firing pin is striking the primers off-center, at the 12 o'clock position. Any ideas of what causes this a...

Re: Savage PCS

I think it's a bargain when compared to the Q Fix and the Christensen Arms MPP, though understandably not in the same class. I really like the left handed bolt with right hand ejection. Wish it was a faster twist than 1:8. Nobody has them in stock yet.

Too bad they don't make one for the CVA Scout 2 pistol.

Meh. This is a high quality mold, and casting with it is nice. But the pin is about half the diameter of the NOE and not as deep.
Which NOE mold are you talking about?

T/C Contender Grip/Brace Adapter (CVA Scout?)

I just read about Sharps Brothers grip/brace adapter. For those of you that own a Contender, it looks like it could be a great option. For those of us with CVA Scout pistols, we can only dream..and make a plea to Sharps as I have done (hint) https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2020/04/14/sharps-bros...
