Question about Rem/Barnes 120 OTFB ammo

Does anyone know if the Rem/Barnes 120 OTFB bullet is an all copper bullet of the same alloy as other Barnes bullets? I'm curious because normally there is a specific break in and cleaning procedure involved before shooting Barnes. I've been shooting the 120's along with other ammo from day one in m...

Re: Wilson Combat 300 Blackout Build

Nice looking shooting iron! I put together a carbine for my wife recently and had all kinds of problems with the first barrel which had a black nitride finish. I had to open the gas port to .125" to make the gun function with supersonic ammo. I wasn't happy with the accuracy so I swapped the ba...

Re: Wilson Combat Barrel

I built a deer gun for the wife as a Christmas present and used a 16" SS fluted Wilson Combat barrel. I'm really happy with it. I've only shot Remington factory 120 OTFB's and handloaded Sierra 125 Pro Hunter's out of it so far but they both shoot very well. I'll try to post a pic of the target...

Re: anyone have issues shooting southwest ammo in a handi?

I had a problem last year with Cor-Bon and Remington ammo in my Encore. The brass was soft and the case would just crush at the shoulder whenever you tried to fire the gun. No problems with reloads or with factory ammo since. The ammo in question was discolored from annealing the necks and shoulders...

Re: New guy and first 300 BLK carbine build

Thanks for the link to those spacers. My gas block had to be moved forward .045" to be perfectly centered over the port so I'll have to make my own shim but it's nice to know someone is making a standard size one.

Re: New guy and first 300 BLK carbine build

Thanks for the replies guys. Ash, you are correct that there is a lot of break in involved with any firearm and especially AR-15's, however, they generally function correctly and shoot decent. In fact, I have built or rebuilt a few thousand firearms on this platform and this is the first one I've ha...

New guy and first 300 BLK carbine build

Greetings all! New guy here. First, I want to thank everybody who has posted their experiences here because it saved me some headaches with this build, not that I didn't have a few anyway. I decided to build the little woman a deer gun that was light and won't kick the snot out of her. I picked up a...
