Re: 208 grain Hornady A-MAX expansion out of 5.5" barrel?

Feel a bit bamboozled by Hornady's bamboozery.

I figured if they were marketing a subsonic 208 grain hollow point it would actually expand at subsonic speeds.

Re: 208 grain Hornady A-MAX expansion out of 5.5" barrel?

So I found a few threads indicating this ammo choice is actually terrible for expansion out of even 16" barrels.

Looks like I will need to get some Lehigh max expansion bullets and load my own cartridges for my application.

208 grain Hornady A-MAX expansion out of 5.5" barrel?

Does anyone happen to know if the 208 grain subsonic Hornady AMAX hollow point 300BLK ammo will achieve expansion velocity when fired out of a 5.5" barrel?

Kind find this info and don't want to have to do a gel test myself to find out if the info is known.

Thanks

Re: Does Magpul BEV Block fit 300 BLK?

Hopefully your barrel extension is installed properly. A few guys have found that out the hard way. Do you mean muzzle device? Scratching my head a bit about barrel extension. ...what was meant is if the barrel extension the BEV fits into wasn't properly torqued AND the muzzle device was OVER torqu...

Re: Does Magpul BEV Block fit 300 BLK?

Yes it will. It will work on anything using a 223/5.56 bolt. It actually grabs the barrel extension by slipping into the locking lug cut-outs , so any caliber in which the size of those are standard , it will work on . The backside is a post with an o-ring that slips into a standard carrier with th...

Does Magpul BEV Block fit 300 BLK?

Simple question but I can't seem to find an answer. I'm in need of swapping some muzzle devices and tired of removing the hand guards on my short barrel uppers to clamp the barrel. Does the BEV block work with 300BLK barreled uppers? Seems like it's probably 5.56 only since it grabs the barrel itsel...

Re: Am I going to regret selling my AAC upper?

I can't speak for keeping or selling the AAC but I can say I have yet to find an issue with my BCM 9" upper. I think here you are talking high dollar apples to more appropriately priced apples. Just because it's expensive and says AAC doesn't make it any more capable. But I agree with some of ...

Re: Am I going to regret selling my AAC upper?

Sounds like you might have had your mind made up from the start! No, I don't think that's fair, I have an open mind. I ultimately want two complete uppers in 300BLK, as I have two "go to" SBRs and I like to have a 5.56 and 300BLK upper for each of them ready to go. However, if the BCM 300...

Re: Am I going to regret selling my AAC upper?

Okay, so I did quite a bit of testing this AM at the range that is closest to me, and I was able to switch between the AAC upper and the BCM upper. This is what I tested with; H1, H2 & JP 15 Captured Buffer. 220 grain subsonic hand loads (sierra matchking) 110 grain supersonic hand loads (nosler...
