Re: Best upper/lower?
I've used the expensive 'boutique' receivers for builds and I've used the 'economy' receivers also. Both did exactly the same thing, function in the manner they were supposed to! If you want to have bragging rights, "My gun is built on (insert whatever high dollar vendor name you want in here) ...

Re: OPTICS
Still see a lot of them at USPSA matches. I used one on an open gun for a couple of years in USPSA and really liked it. Now you've got me thinking I should buy one and put it on one of my AR-15's!

Re: Wolf Small Rifle Primers
I bought 10K of the Wolf 223 primers and have gone through the first 5K and now working on the second 5K. I wish I had bought more of them, they have worked great in all my AR's.

Re: 147 fmj bullets.
All of my 300 BLK plinking ammo is 147 grn. FMJ over 17 grns. of IMR 4227, I've shot close to 1K rounds of the stuff and had no problems.

Re: Dispensing with Forward Assist?
I quit putting forward assists in my AR's several years ago and I don't miss them one bit! If I can get an upper without the forward assist boss then that's what I use for my build. If not, then one of these goes in; https://www.midwayusa.com/product/198053/schuster-forward-assist-plug-delrin-ar-15 ...

Re: suppressor came loose this weekend
T As far as your cap goes, I believe Silencerco took the time to have ATF make a ruling on replaceable caps. Think Sigbrace and Deadair suppressor wipes or Neilsen device. Replaceable end caps are legal as long as they don't act as retainers for the internal parts. Anything that acts as a retainer ...

Re: Blank Check - What is Your Ideal HD Build?
Being a 23 year veteran of law enforcement and seeing what different types of ammo do in building materials I have to agree with some of the other posters here in that if you're in an apartment you would be much better off with a shotgun for HD. I would also go with a #4 buckshot load, and for years...

Re: Brownells B Tac or Faxon
I have a friend who is a retired US Army Ranger (so he knows a little bit about guns and the AR platform) who swears by Faxon barrels. He has built numerous AR platform rifles, several in uncommon calibers such as 25-45 Sharps. This guy is a rifleman! He's not a benchrest type but just an all around...
