Re: Success with the 150gr Gold Dot

I think you asked me that the last time I posted about Gold Dots! :P. I bought a bunch of reloading supplies during (before) the covid ramp up and again when I retired in 2021. I picked quite a few boxes on Gold Dots during those times...lucky I did, right? So why isnt Speer producing one of the mos...

Success with the 150gr Gold Dot

While hunting in LA I harvested this 8pt yesterday with my 300 BO. Range was about 75 yards and he dropped at the shot...DRT.

Gotta love the Gold Dot when It is sent on its way with Socom powder!

Re: Speer 130 Varmint #2005 FTW

Sorry, late to respond.... I had a few stockpiled. I invested a bit in my reloading hobby just as the "pandemic" started. Primers, Powder and Projectiles! That was the second doe I have shot with the GD. Both in Texas, so sort of smaller deer. I also hunt in LA, but have not had a deer get...

Re: Speer 130 Varmint #2005 FTW

Good to hear your daughter got her deer and you a pig with the 130gn Speer. I shot a good doe on the 16th with a 150gn GD pushed along with some Socom powder at about 90 yards. Hit just in front of the shoulder and exited behind the off shoulder. I found her about 10 yards from where the shot was ma...

Re: primer choice

Yep, I have used them before. The only problem using small rifle in a pistol is that usually are a bit harder to light off. The striker fired pistols don't help any, either. Just treat them like a new primer till you feel safe....start a tad low and work up your load. I should add because what I po...

Re: the Covid got me

I don't argue with anyone about me not taking the vaccine. It's none of their business for starters, and it's my body. I'll do what I want with it. I've seen the result of their medical advice re: diet and heart disease, and statins and they lie. So the med' establishment is the last place I go to ...

Re: Optics

I have settled on Bushnell AR Optics scopes on my 300 BO's. I use the 4.5-18 variables. They are clear, compact and track well.....with lifetime warranty. In the last 10 years I have had one where the cross hair failed. Sent it back and it was replaced with the newest model...in about 3 weeks. My 30...

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK

Speer has two 150gn "gold dots" in the market. One is for the 300BO and another for other .30 firearms. Are they different? Yep, there are some notable differences between the 2. Will they interchange? I have no idea. At full velocity, I use them as intended by Speer. I am not interested i...
