Re: What could this powder be?
The photo matches the Accurate #9 image in Quickload to a T. Even the tear dropped ones with the long tails. I'm still running Quickload 3.6. Latest version has powder images? Here's a photo I just took of Accurate #9, which has density about 15gr/cc. If you've found a photo that looks like the ori...

Link is to Smokeless Powders Database.
Lot of info with pictures.
Your example looks a bit like Accurate #9, but VMD is not correct.

Re: order actions in creating brass
Basic stuff for a newbie. My searches could not answer my question about the order in which certain actions are taken in making 300blk brass from .223. Feel free to direct me to an old thread. Google searches have revealed the following possible processes: 1. deprime .223 case. cut. size with 300bl...

Re: Throating.
Have any of you guys had a throat reamer made to lengthen the throat of a 300 bo chamber? Then you could shoot a cast bullet with a longer and more accurate drive band... More to hold the bullet straight. I've measured a cmmg 300 barrel and it bumps about .020 north of the case mouth . It would ope...

Re: Chamber modification?
Here's the setup: I have an 8" Aero barrel and have been shooting cast PC NOE 247s sized to .310-.311. The transition from the neck to throat is pretty sharp, and my concern is that the bullet is having the PC shaved off rather being squeezed down to barrel dimensions. I'm not finding lead rin...

Re: 7.62x40 Blackout
OK.....please DO NOT take this the wrong way. Most wildcat rounds are designed around a purpose, or to fix a flaw. I have scanned over both of your threads, and I cannot find any purpose you have stated. What was your desired improvement in coming up with this round..?? Again....not offense intende...

Re: 7.62x40 Blackout
Shoulder needs to be moved forward more looks like it doesn't have anymore powder capacity than the 300 blk. Moving the shoulder forward would give us the Wilson Tactical 7.62x40WT that holds according to the interweb; 29-30grs of H2O compared to 27.5gr for the 7.62x40BLK compared to the 24.1gr for...

Re: 7.62x40 Blackout
Ladders were shot for Nosler 110gr and Speer 125gr yesturday. The 125gr got shot out of order. I have the velocities and can post them; just cant match them to the shot. Nosler 110s ranged from 19.7gr (2195fps @ 6yds / 2212 @ muzzle est.) to 21.5gr (2392fps @ 6yds / 2409 @ muzzle est.) Speer 125s ra...

Re: 7.62x40 Blackout
Here are some pics. Found out its hard to tell groups apart doing it the way I did it. Next time I'm just going with store bought 1" grids and small bulls-eye stickers for each group to keep them separated. http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee497/dbod999/Firearms%20Related/300BLK/11NOV15_X40_...

Re: 7.62x40 Blackout
Finally fired some rounds today; weather pattern has been dumping rain on us every weekend. Used LC '10 converted Brass, and Wolf KVB-223M primers. 300-MP Powder; dispensed from a Hornady Lock-n-Load automatic dispenser. Nosler 110gr Varmageddons; case length 1.575"; COAL 2.25" GR @6yards ...
