Re: Success with 5744 and 190s.

Love the powder, albeit a little expensive. A tad quieter than 1680, but it leaves some unburnt granuals in the lower. It a big deal if you do regular maintenance. I use 10.2gr behind a 187gr ~980FPS out of a 8.5"

Re: Searching for Vihta N320 or N340

This is my favorite power for 9mm subs. 3.7gr behind a 147gr (special K recipe)~950fps. Meters consistent & burns clean. Little pricier, but hey its VV. Glad you found some, it's been harder to find than 1680 for me.

Re: Trail boss question

Will not cycle in a semi. Although, you can can still shoot it in one..(and it's super quiet). If I remember, around ~6.7gr is case fill. My go-to powder for lightweights in the bolt action.

Re: Palmetto Projectiles

Shot 200 rounds last week. LC brass, 1.995"COAL, 10.2gr of 1680, Lee flare with Lee FCD. Little more work to flare, and re-crimp but they worked perfect in my 8" SBR. Velocity was 980FPS.

Re: Bolt action 300 black out !

Great rifle. Save the1680 for semi-auto loads. Other powder will will yield better SD's, and much quieter results(if you are going to supress). If not, I would start at published data for 16" and work down to target velocity.

Re: Developing Subsonic Load

I shoot for ~1000fps. That way no matter where I am at(elevation), what the temperature is, or can/no can. They should all stay subsonic. Obviously barrel length is going to be the biggest factor. get a chrono, and tune them to your rig.
