Re: Texas hog hunt.
They can be darn tasty. I think how the animal is cared for after the kill matters a lot.
I shot a 205 pound sow in Florida that yielded some of the best pulled pork I have ever smoked.

Re: Texas hog hunt.
I find they most always exit.
The only one I’ve recovered was from the hog. Shot was front on, entered between the eyes and ended up in the neck. Perfect mushroom but one petal broke off.

Re: Texas hog hunt.
Hey gds, I hope you had a blessed Easter. Nice work on the hogs, looks like time for some grilling. I popped a 205 pound sow last fall with the 110 Barnes also. I’m sure there are other really good bullets now for the blackout, but the Barnes is still the gold standard for me. Did you recover any bu...

Re: Magazines
Mil-Spec metal, Magpul, Lancer, Duramag have all worked well. The Lancers have been hard to seat when full and with BCG closed, but they are that way with 5.56 also.

Re: Cheaper alternative to gorilla for defensive 300 ammo
Also check Mile High Shooting. They have the Barnes 110 and the Hornady GMX for reasonable price. I figure for serious defense use ammo and good bourbon, I’ll pay a bit of a premium. I can cut cost on the practice ammo and hootch that I share with guests! https://www.milehighshooting.com/search.php?...

Re: Maker 85gr sbr velocity
I got 2223fps with their factory loads out of my 6” AR15 with a 762-SDN-6 on it.
They advertise 2550fps out of a 16” tube for this load.
I’m not sure what the extra 4” will give you over the 6” velocity, but hopefully this will give you an idea of what is possible.
