Re: 5” AR Pistol- Dramatic FPS Decrease w/ Suppressor

Yup. I was getting two or three pieces of the bullet hitting the target. Ruined the barrel, of course. So I built a 350 SBR and have a GSL Technology can coming specifically for it.

By the way, I still have brass, lol!

Re: 5” AR Pistol- Dramatic FPS Decrease w/ Suppressor

I would suspect chronograph error. This. Unless it's a .22 suppressor and the bullet has to force its way out. I just can't imagine a suppressor slowing a bullet down at all, much less 900 fps. I had to stop and think about this. I built a 350 Legend upper and blissfully threaded a 22 cal muz...

Re: 5” AR Pistol- Dramatic FPS Decrease w/ Suppressor

It is a Caldwell G2. I wondered about it being the problem. I did suppressed, unsuppressed and suppressed again with the same results. And, I zipped 20 or 25 rounds through it out of our new department guns, which are integrally suppressed and seemed to get correct fps based on a prior run of a few ...

5” AR Pistol- Dramatic FPS Decrease w/ Suppressor

I built a 5” AR pistol in 300blk. Not sure why. But no reason why not, so I went ahead. I chrono’d two supersonic loads; Barnes 100 Black Tip and Maker 85gr Overwatch. Both loads functioned flawlessly both with and without can. Both grouped decently both with and without a can. Neither load’s brass ...

Re: Over-pressure only on 2nd and later rounds?

Hi All, Thanks for sharing your knowledge and thoughts. I thought it through as best I could but ended up coming here for better thoughts! I’ll pass the info on to my friend. I told him when he asked the question that the best thing he could do was to shoot factory loads. I think I’ll reinforce that...

Over-pressure only on 2nd and later rounds?

An acquaintance posed me this question. He has a bolt gun and AR10, both in 308 win. He has some handloads from a friend. In his bolt gun they fire fine and group respectfully. In his AR10 the first round fires well, and the brass shows no over-pressure signs. The next rounds out of the magazine fir...

I’m thinking there is going to be some happily full freezers shortly.

Good shooting and good write-up.

Re: Best bullet weight for 8.5 inch pistol barrel 300BLK

1:8 twist should stabilize any supersonic and most subsonic bullets adequately. So, what is the best weight??? For plinking, get whatever is affordable. For HD, there are many options; 110 or 120 Blacktips (many companies load the110s), 125 SSTs, Lehigh defense makes subs and supers, Maker offers su...

Re: Anyone shooting subs in Bolt action?

I’m using that exact round in my Ruger American w/ Omega can.

No issues, great accuracy (precision, if you will) and astoundingly quiet.
