Re: Mini 300blkout/Garand build

The CFEBLK seems to work with the 150s but I've had to experiment some to get reliable function with 125-130 gr. I tried some LilGun powder that I had and it’s working. Everything that I’m shooting with these powders eject fine but have issues with picking up the next rd. Remember, my gas port is 23...

Re: Mini 300blkout/Garand build

After a lot of work looking for anything that was rubbing, in a bind or not right I’ve gotten it to feed and eject 150 gr jacketed bullets. The case is just about full of CFEBLK and is certainly being compressed but I’m not getting high pressure signs. I would like it to also shoot 125/130gr bullets...

Re: Mini 300blkout/Garand build

Had a setback. It was running before I installed the ruger reinforcement and moved the bbl action back 1/4 inch. I had to install the steel because it was battering the oak inserts that I was using. Had to set the sction back to get the gas cylinder, handguard and stock to work right. But I’ve moved...

Re: Mini 300blkout/Garand build

Got my stock filled in on both sides where the mini14 recvr is shorter than the garands. Also installed the ruger steel stock reenforcement with jbweld and the 2 side screws as I had some movement playing with the heavier bullets. Had to remove the damaged oak shims that I had initially installed. A...

Re: Mini 300blkout/Garand build

More good news, 20.0 gr with 150 gr bullets will eject and feed. Might have to bump the CFEBLK up a hair. But while grouping it is shooting low at 35 yds. I milled some off the garand front sight but am also going to play with the ruger rear sight as I’ve run out of elevation. I need to fab up a tal...

Re: Mini 300blkout/Garand build

Had a breakthrough today using 21.0 gr of CFEBLK and 110 gr rn, 123 gr zmax, 125 gr midway plastic tipped and 130 gr hp bullets. All ejected and stripped the next rd. Couldn’t get H110 to work no matter what I did. More testing needed but at least my build’s running with my handloads. I had to swap ...

Re: Ammo for mini300/garand build

Just tried 21.0 gr of CFEBLK and a 123gr .310 zmax and got ejection and feeding! I thought that I tried these before but maybe that was with H110. I’m wondering if the .310 vs .308 is giving me that extra bit of pressure needed to make the magic happen? Just tried 110 rn and 130 gr hp .308 and they ...

Re: Ammo for mini300/garand build

Experiment; added 2.0 gr of H110 to the powder in a pulled apart aguila rd, powders look identical, put it back together. Great ejection but no feeding.

Re: Ammo for mini300/garand build

Per your suggestion dellet I pulled one American Eagle rd apart with my inertia puller in 2 whacks so not a tight crimp. OAL is 2.20. Bullet was a 150 gr FMJ-BT with a crimp groove. The powder weighed 19.0 gr and looks a lot like H110 or CFEBLK. I dumped it back into the case only came as high as th...

Ammo for mini300/garand build

At first I thought that I had built a $$ manually operated semi auto garand but after some tinkering with the op rod springs and spring guide I’ve gotten it to eject 100% but only American Eagle 150gr will reliably feed the next rd. ??? Does anyone know the actual powder that Federal uses in these c...
