Re: 125 grain sierra pro hunter for first time hog hunt

Thank you for the info. Hornady SSTs it is. What kind of velocity is needed for reliable expansion? All the bullet/ powder combos I've tried have been for accuracy so far and not terminal preformance. Thanks again, Jason

Re: 125 grain sierra pro hunter for first time hog hunt

Rebel. I'm using a 16" AAC upper. What length Barrel are you using? I would really like to use these on deer and coyotes. For humane kills I'ld swich to the Hornady SST or Noslers BT 125gr heads, but being a varmit bullet I would think expansion would be adaquite out to 100yds at 2,200 - 2300 f...

Re: 125 grain sierra pro hunter for first time hog hunt

Anyone else have additional info on the 125gr Seirra Pro Hunter??? I still have about 1,800 heads to play with. I just picked up 2 lbs of LilGun to play with at $20.75 a can. I refused to pay the $30 a pound they were asking before. Thanks.

Re: 125 grain sierra pro hunter for first time hog hunt

I too like the 125gr Pro Hunter for all the same reasons. In an AR package it's light and compact, shoulders and swings quick. You can change from scope, red dot to irons easy. In a semi-auto quicker follow up shots when you call in more the one coyote. Or Hog........This has become my new favorite ...

Re: 125 grain sierra pro hunter for first time hog hunt

[quot e="tallburnedmidget"]I've read about people having success on deer, and a mention of a couple of head shots on hogs. I think it will be a fine hunting load, plus shoot the hogs behind the ear and it won't matter what you are using and they won't run :) I just shot some ab...
