Re: Public service announcement (Accuracy vs Precision)

Simple enough:
A "clip" is used to load a magazine.
A "magazine" stores rounds in the gun until they are fed into the chamber. The magazine may be a separate item (AR15/M16, 1911, etc.) or integral with the gun (M1 Garand, C96 Mauser, etc.).

Re: Public service announcement (Accuracy vs Precision)

A couple of years ago my son decided he wanted to have some fun doing his last Science Fair Project in high school. He wanted to do something with shooting. Knowing this was for a public school, we had to jump through all sorts of hoops after he received approval from the committee to test the preci...

Re: 300 blackout handloading

first off welcome. Secondly buy 2 or more reloading manuals and read them. read a lot and ask questions. If you have a pistol you want to reload for start with it. 9mm, .40 .45. straight wall pistol calibers are a little easier to reload. Some find the 300 blk a little difficult for a beginner, tha...

Re: Spiral gas tube

It's always been my understanding that the original 5.56 Stoner system worked best with barrels between 14.5" and 20" barrels. Anything longer or shorter required tweaking of gas ports and other parts. That being said, the Pigtail gas tube was developed to give shorter barreled M16's (10.5...

Re: Looking for Crono recommendations

I have an Oehler Model 35 Proof Chronograph.
It's not picky about lighting outdoors, has a printer and has been reliable with everything from .177 pellets to 75 caliber Brown Bess musket and everything in between.

Re: Magpul Officially Leaving Colorado

The only thing that causes a political shift anymore is money. The people of Colorado need to look closely and see what lost tax revenue from Magpul vs. tax revenue from legal pot equal after a year or so. Not political projections...but actual dollars. If they get more money from pot...they win. If...

Re: Anyone Out There have experience with IMR 4227 & 150 gr.

The bullets I'm using are 150 grain FMJBT.

For the 125 grain Hornaday BT, I am using 17 grains of IMR4227...COL to fit magazine.

Re: Anyone Out There have experience with IMR 4227 & 150 gr.

The 150's I'm using have a cannelure.
Seated to cannelure, COL is 2.065"

Re: Anyone Out There have experience with IMR 4227 & 150 gr.

I have settled on 16.5 grains of IMR4227 with 150 grain bullets. This is out of a 16" Model 1 upper.
Not the fastest load around but plenty accurate and pleasant to shoot.
