Re: New to Reloading 300 Blackout

Here are my steps... 1. Clean brass in wet Tumbler (without pins). Dry on towel with fan 2. Run through progressive press setup with RCBS Lube die at station 1 (also decaps), Sizer die at station 2 3. Check length and trim as necessary with RCBS trim pro setup with RCBS 3-way trimmer 4. Re: Blown out primers Hornady 150 FMJBT & Lil Gun

Well, Hodgdon specifically markets a line of Rifle powders (granted not good for 300 BLK generally) that specifically are engineered to perform consistently in a wide range of temps, so they are aware of the issue with powders in general. See this link... http://ns.hodgdon.com/extreme.html Another i...

I generally use the Lyman dies for 300 BLK, but I also keep the RCBS small base on hand in case it is needed.

Re: 300 AAC BLACKOUT questions

Ballistically similar to 7.63x39, but a much wider range of bullet selection. 300BLK can use almost any .308 from 90 to over 240 gr. 7.62x39 uses .310 pills which are offered in a narrow range of offerings. Recoil is extremely light, so follow up shots are easy. Brass is widely available or can be m...

Re: Blown out primers Hornady 150 FMJBT & Lil Gun

I do not understand these results, as I was of the understanding that velocity and pressure directly correlated with temperature. I appreciate the OP alerting me to this situation with Lil' Gun. Lil Gun problem is there is an inverse correlation with temperature to stability. Lil Gun causes pressur...

Re: Jacketed loads with H110 & 2400

2400 has a very narrow window of function...look elsewhere in powders.

Re: Blown out primers Hornady 150 FMJBT & Lil Gun

20 degrees is an issue for Lil Gun... very unstable and unpredictable at those temps. Not a good powder choice for Alaska IMHO. I'm in Colorado and stopped using Lil Gun a few years ago due to its temperature (low temp) sensitivity. In warm weather it is one of the best performers, but in the cold, ...

What was the temperature when you were shooting? Lil Gun does NOT like to be cold.
