I use a silver Sharpie to write caliber inside the ejection port cover. Everything's clean when its closed, and easy to see when cover opens. Have to touch up once or twice a year.
I also segregate mags by color/marking and avoid having multiple calibers on shooting bench at same time.

Re: 14.5 in barrels
I have two Wilson Combat barrels, both 16'/1:8, one lightweight and one fluted recon. Both of these are excellent shooters and cycle with factory subs and supers, suppressed and unsuppressed. They also function with my handloads. I have thought about the 14.5 and pinned route also. Let us know if yo...

Re: Ruger 300blk
Sorry guys. My partner is on vacation this week so I'm working all day and on call every night. I'll get some pics and an update as soon as I can. ETA 6-25-13 http://m1331.photobucket.com/albums/blk300/300/ Having a little trouble posting pics, these will have to do for now. Here is a pic of the rif...

Ruger 300blk
After months of looking for all the pieces then waiting to get everything put together, I finally picked up my 300blk bolt gun. I had this built on a ruger m77 ss originally in 223,with a mcGowen 1:8 16" barrel threaded 5/8 x 24. Of course I get the notice that it's ready just as I go back to w...

Re: What bullet for BLACK Bear?
Choose one of the Barnes bullets, at supersonic velocity. I don't know yet how the 110gr bullets designed for 300blk perform but the 130's are great on hogs and have proven very accurate for me.

Re: What do you guys protect the threads with?
Either use a three prong flash hider (Ex. AAC) or my favorite is a linear comp such as a Levang or Kies. Not a fan of muzzle brakes.

Re: 16" 308 barrel
Interested in this. Is it chambered or breech threaded for a particular action? What is the breech diameter?
Thanks

You may also consider a Savage barrel (custom) turned with a shoulder to headspace on, or epoxy/pin the nut in place. Check out Savage Shooters forum for ideas on this.

Re: hmmm
The difficulties with head shots on pigs are easily explained. A small, rarely stationary target surrounded by angled bone and the inability of most folks to shoot as well off the internet as they do on it  . There are no double skull plates in some pigs, just a sinus cavity like any other ...

Re: TTSX vs TSX Overview
I have used the Barnes tipped 130 gr bullets with good results. Expansion is fair, with good penetration even on shots through the shield on bigger boars out to 100-125 yds, about as far as we've tried them. Accuracy has been acceptable without excessive load workup, and feeding/function are faultle...
