Thanks, Robert.

Man, I sure do miss the old 115 grain load.

Re: New Barnes Range AR in 300 Blackout

Interesting. I, too, would sure appreciate Blackout ammo more in line with "plinking" prices.

Would the zinc core be rough on my AR500 steel targets?

Re: 140gr MonoFlex for hunting?

Hornady's site says that the muzzle velocity range for the Monoflex (the FTX?) is 1800-3000 FPS. The SST range is 2000-3300FPS. Sounds like you'll be on the low end of recommended velocity for either bullet. :(

Re: red dot

I used Red Dot for some cat sneeze loads for my Blackout (at the time it had a 10.2" barrel) and my Yugo SKS, both set up to run my YHM can. At the time the Blackout wore an SLR Sentry adjustable gas block to shut off the gas for single shot mode, and the SKS has a gas cutoff for grenade launching. ...

Re: Pairing Handguard and Barrel

My handguard, a Spikes BAR2, is advertised as a 9" handguard. The handguard is actually closer to 9.5" from the front face of the receiver (where the picatinny rail of the handguard meets the receiver). Because the bolt face when locked into the barrel extension sits about 1/4" behind this point, my...

Re: Suppressors: Direct Thread, or QD?

I assume both your rifles have the same thread pitch at the muzzle--5/8x24. In that case, a thread-on can makes a lot of sense. However, if you have several guns with different thread pitches on the muzzles, such as a 5.56 AR, an AK, and your Blackout, and want to use one can on all of them, then QD...

Re: Any 338 Spector love?

I think the Spectre is an intriguing cartridge that I'd love to play with, but I'm on the fence about it. The 300 grain subsonic pills it shoots sure sound tempting, but the cost of an additional can and 300 grain costs north of 80ish cents are a turn-off. Heck, even the cheapest 338 "plinking" bull...

Re: Two questions about muzzle attachment and suppressor cost.

boomer, one thing that I think is important with regard to suppressors is weight. Although it was $300 or so more than its steel model, I opted for a titanium suppressor (YHM QD Ti Phantom 7.62). In retrospect, the extra coin was well worth it. Before my titanium can got out of BATF jail, I had the ...

Re: Muzzle device for a 10.5"/ pin and weld

I'm not aware of anyone that makes a 6.5" device. Everything I'm aware of is the standard 5.5" for the xm177 clones. Sounds to me like you're in the neighborhood of custom work. Sorry I'm of no help.
