Stupid question here......do ar pistols have to be registered? Any special process or permits required? Never thought of building one, but I have an extra receiver lying around...... I have had a 22LR upper on a Plum Crazy (precursor to NFA) for several years and have no issues. You may need to swap out the hammer for a blowback profile for some uppers. I have good luck with the last 500 of these. Sadly, still more than the new REM, but not too outrageous. I picked up 1000 due to the fact I am too busy to reload right now and have a need to shoot what I have on the 4th.

I have run 40 rounds of Rem 115 supersonic through one without a hiccup. It was a new build, BCG group running "wet".
Carbine length tube and buffer.

Edit- It is the barrel, but not the complete CMMG upper in the OP.
