Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK

I wanted the bullet further INTO the neck of the brass, meaning FARTHER away from the lands.

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK

as slick as these bullets are, I want more bullet in the case neck. even if jumping .050" is what it takes. One of my first bullets I used didn't have enough bullet in the neck, and would pop out and dump powder in my trigger and chamber.

Not worth it.

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK

The more people who document and share their actual velocity and drop, the more it will help others. As mentioned way back, I guesstimated a G1 BC of .360 based on a 100 yard zero and drop at 300. Just ran a few LabRadar results through the JBM online calculator and it's averaging around .351. That...

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK

not a type-o. 1:18 twist. This particular barrel now has 4000+ rounds down the tube.
It may be a while before I get to do that. but sure.... I will do that.

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK

Thank you @dellet and @rebel for the work you have shown on this bullet. I have decided to use this as my main hunting bullet in my camo 300 BO. I will still use the 125 SST in my other Rem 700 300 BO, since it is an 18 twist barrel (and shoots that bullet at 2400 fps), the SST works VERY WELL in th...

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK

Got a chance this weekend to use this bullet on a doe. 125 yards. Perfect broadside shot. Missed ribs going in, and going out. Still made a nice hole on exit wound. MV of 2100 fps https://scontent-dfw5-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/82184841_3012169125484699_641733449064906752_n.jpg?_nc_cat=109&_nc_ohc=IEL...

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK

@rebel thanks. I sure wished I wouldn't have jumped the gun (pun intended) and got a good stock before hydro dipping. but... you get a new toy and you have extra cash in your pocket, and you turn into a 7 year old in a candy store. @dellet the first cold shot bore was still in play. I wasn't even wo...

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK

I loaded up a few more yesterday and decided to see if there was a difference in the LC brass over the Lapua. Man was I surprised. I wont bore you with all the pictures, but the LC brass did as good or better than the Lapua brass. I knew between 22.0 and 22.5 is where I should be. Turns out 22.2 in ...

Don't give up the fight :P

Wonder about the cold bore shift being velocity related. A relatively slow powder and a suppressor full of O2, might be worth a check.

How would I combat that?
