Re: Hand loading introduction

"don't think that using 110 for 300blk sub loads is really what Hodgedon is getting at when they say "no reduced loads"..." And that is a fact. I can't say that H110/296 is one of my favored powders, not that it isn't a good one. As I don't do 'subs', I can't give a qualified eva...

Re: Hand loading introduction

10, if I may call you that, I will make my offer of ideas. I like bullets in the 130 grain range. They give good velocities with some weight. To powders.... So many and all are good, for something. I am currently leaning toward 2400 and Lt'Gun. Yes, I've read all about how Lt'Gun cuts the top strap ...

Re: Lee C312-155-2R

natchomamma, "Is this an issue? How much would this effect accuracy?" Short answer is NO and NO. I use the 'shake n bake' method and with color pigmented powders will have 'thin' spots in the color. But on close examination, the polyester is coating well, just not the pigment. My answer to...

Re: Anyone with reports on the RCBS 130 SP?

I started with the 'LEE C312-155-2R' and had it shaved to remove the gas check area and just a little of the fisrt drive band. I ended up with a weight of 129.75 grains average. I just call it 130 grains.. This is with my rather hard alloy that I made up in the late 1980s for use in my .44 mag loads...

Re: Load data for cast?

I agree with 80HP. As for your load/s.... What bullet weight range are you looking at and sonic or subs? I have recently standardized one of my loading using 2400 powder (130 grain cast FB, powder coated, 15.1 grains of 2400). This gives me full function and very good accuracy with cast bullets and ...

Re: Catching bullets - 'PC' cast lead

plant.one, When I was looking for a way to 'catch' a bullet, I looked at many was to get it done and at the least expense. One of my plans was to take a 4 inch PVC pipe, cap one end, set it at a downward angle, fill with water and shoot. I backed out of this one because I figured the back splash wou...

Re: Depressed.

You fellers shore want me to spend money. Back in the mid to late 70s I procured a substantial (for me) amount of once fired military brass, mostly Lake City stuff. At the time I only had a Sterling made AR-180, still have it, and it rode hundred of thousands of miles at my ankles in several patrol ...

Re: 300 BLK Cast issues

Sorry, I can't help with that. I just use my old C&H Offset 'O' press that I got for my birthday back in 1963. I have an early set of LEE dies and a LEE Factory Crimp Die. Never saw any use in getting some fancy gauge. I just feed the brass at every stage of being processed into my weapons chamb...

Joel,
I will accept that.
Guess I'm just spoiled by having quality tools to work with.

Load with care,
