Re: Scope for a 300BLK
I personally used the Vortex Crossfire 2 on my 300 blackout and havent had any problems with it so for after a couple hundred rounds. Got it off ebay for under $130. My second budget scope is anything Redfield. Awesome scopes, I have one on a slug gun and have never had a single issue with it. I wi...

Re: Scope for a 300BLK
I have a Primary Arms 4-14X44 FFP on mine and absolutely love it. It's more than you want to spend -- $225. Vortex makes some great scopes, but stay away from the Crossfire for anything heavier that .22 LR IMHO. I had one on my 300 BLK and broke the reticle three times. Vortex replaced it no questio...

Re: Long Range Shots with 300BLK
I limit my hunting shots to 200 +/- yards with my 16". Can you hit things farther out? Sure, but the shot must be absolutely perfect to get the job done reliably. I did take a coyote at 275 yards and he was DRT, but I didn't really care if I missed. My favorite hunting round is a 125 gr Nosler ...

I have two 10.5" SS and they're great barrels. I can't figure out where the hate comes from.

Re: gun free zone
Unfortunately, that's how the pansies think it works. My favorite response from them is, "If no one had guns we wouldn't need gun free zones."

Re: Chronograph
I have a Shooting Chrony Beta Master and it works fine. I suspect that the F1 would be good, too. I don't ask a lot from a chroy -- just tell me how fast it was and work on EVERY shot.

Re: First 300 loads with H100
My scale is only accurate to .1 gr, so 17.4 is somewhere between 17.35 and 17.45. 17.5 should work just fine, too. I forgot to add the my avrerage muzzle velocity is 2135 fps with that load.Delirious wrote:I was thinking of 17.5, so I will try your 17.4. Thank you for taking the time to respond

Re: First 300 loads with H100
You can start with 17 gr of H110 and work up. My best load for the 125 gr SMK is 17.4 gr H110 using Wolf primers. COAL is 2.135" That load generally gives me sub MOA groups. My gun has a 16" CMMG WASP 1:7 barrel with carbine gasand a BCM BCG. I'm using a Miculek comp. I went as high as 17....

Lube for lead bullets
I ended up with 100 cast lead 240 gr bullets and they don't have any lube in the grooves. I've loaded lead pistol bulltes with and w/o lube, but not rifle. Do I need to get something to lube these?

Re: New guy wants a 300BLK
I think I have exactly what you're talking about. Mine has a 16" CMMG WASP 1:7 barrel with a carbine gas system. I'm using a JP Enterprises captured silent spring buffer now, but it ran fine with a standard A2 buffer. It also has a JP Enterprises JPFC-1 trigger set at 4.25#. After tuning some l...
