Re: Hornady 125gr FMJ, will they work for Plinking

I shoot lots of pulled 123-124gr 7.62x39 fmj bullets for plinking with fine plinking results. They are around 3-4" at 100yd. I see no reason you won't have fine plinking results with your bullets. I use H110 (but then I've been using H110 from the git go in the Blackout). Start low and work up ...

Re: Ruger No1

Interesting idea. Probably best to start with one in a .223 size cartridge head so the same extractor could be used. Did a quick search and immediately found a gunsmith that rebarrels them. $450 was his base price, with a match bbl being higher. Would you have the bbl threaded for a suppressor?

Re: Changing col increments

In the case of my reloads with my various 300BLK bbls and the 125gr Nosler BT, I found a difference in accuracy at 0.1" difference in OAL. Basically, some bbls liked 2.1" OAL and some liked 2.2" OAL for best accuracy with that bullet. Also note, that for the same velocity I had to inc...

Re: Barnes 110 Tac TX bullets

It seems to me that its not unusual that around fall (hunting) time they are out of stock (high demand?). For all users of that Barnes bullet, buy them when you find them, even if its months until hunting season. Buying them early summer/late spring, I've been able to find them on sale. And for some...

Re: Optimum barrel length?

I was thinking that an 8 inch would be good for pigs within 50 yards (with a suppressor). Do you think that is a good idea? Thom IF within 50yd, I think 8" would be fine. Based on my calculations of retained velocity vs bullet maker's velocity recommendation for expansion and actual performanc...

Re: Adjustable Gas Block settings questions.

With adjustable gas blocks and the Blackout, you just never know until you experiment with your setup (and keep notes as mentioned by others). For example: With my PRI gas block (no "clicks", you just turn the adjustment screw in or out, so all settings mentioned are screw turns counter cl...

Re: Challenges cutting down 556/223 and forming to 300 blackout

When I form Blackout cases (using a Redding die) vs resizing after firing already formed cases, I found I had to have the sizing die in different positions for the 2 tasks. Specifically, when forming, my die has to make firm contact with the shell holder. When resizing, I have to have the die 1/2 tu...
