Re: Ammo shortage, part deux

"Buy it cheap and stack it deep!" Always a sound strategy... My ammo closet is likely worth more than my gun collection. With the exception of my newest 6.5 Grendel project, I have a RED LINE of 1K rounds that I won't dip into. As of right now, I'm good to continue shooting as normal. I do need to d...

Re: Best 1in 8" twist bullet weight for 200m accuracy

I've had tons of experience with a 1:8 twist GEN1 Noveske barrel. 220 SMKs (PN: 2240C) are sub MOA without any issue. https://media.mwstatic.com/product-images/src/primary/764/764137.jpg?imwidth=320 If you are really paranoid about the barrel twist, 200 grain Lapua Subsonic (PN:LU4PL7060) is incredi...

Re: Does Play between upper and lower and accuracy?

Whether the play is part of the issue will depend on how much slop and your shooting technique. 4" at 100 yards is terrible for supers, not so much for subs staring out. Hand loads or factory might change my mind. Before I would have done anything beyond checking barrel torque and sights, I would h...

Re: Magnum Primers?

Not to confuse the issue, but.......... :P Some of my low density, fast powder loads for some of the antiques I shoot, the primer of choice is a standard small pistol primer. They work really well in small cases like 22 hornet as well. Safely experimenting is what makes handloading fun. To add even...

Re: Magnum Primers?

In theory small rifle primers were designed for lower pressure loads up to 40,000 psi. They have a thinner cup than magnum primers. A fair amount of people use them with good results I wouldn’t in hot loads. To elaborate on this, dellet says this due to it masking pressure signs and changing the pr...

Re: Max Effective Range of Common 300 BLK Projectiles

Sorry for the delay.
Been sucked into my latest 6.5 Grendel project and getting setup for deer season.
(My 10 year old daughter has some serious "Buck Fever". ;-)

I'll do my best to get the list updated soon.

Not uncommon for powders faster than H110 to be in a pressure range as high or higher than supers even with light bullets and primer pockets don’t care about speed only pressure.
AA#9 is a perfect example of this.
Once again, sage advice given by dellet...
