Re: Bear Creek Uppers??
I used a Bear Creek upper with side-action bolt to build a .458 SOCOM that works beautifully!

Re: Failed buffer
Buffer (no name) has ~ 300 rnds through it, AR pistol with supers. Well range day didn't go good today. Replace batterys in sight, shot some more and - bolt won't go back very far. Buffer has screwed in plastic buffer stop that came unscrewed. Screwed it back in a did a few more shots. Sure the thr...

Re: Thinking of a New AR
You will indeed get as many opinions as there are word choices in the universe! Like you I own several AR's in .223 and 300 AAC and was looking for something different. Well, that "different" came in the form of building my very own .458 SOCOM! Talk about SaWHEET! Mind you I chose not to g...

Re: First AR pistol build - Help Request
Remember that 300 Blackout produces high pressure with low volume so your port pressure becomes more problematic. Examine a powder burn rate comparison chart and consider trying powders faster than you are using, or go with heavier bullets, or go with lighter bullets in the 110-125 grain range and g...

Re: First AR pistol build - Help Request
The gun isn't clearing the fired case before picking up the new round. That means weak ejection, but not likely "undergassed" since a pistol length system puts plenty of gas into the system, unless the port is too small. A bolt that locks back on a single round fired, or works with three r...

Re: Did you know one of the biggest detriments of the 300blk?
No wonder my early experiments with the 300 AAC were so dismal! AA-7 wasn't the right powder! The only "problem" with the 300 AAC is it's TOO versatile compared to most other caliber-case combinations! With it's small case capacity, it's a very efficient cartridge from short barrels, and n...

Re: Non-suppressed Piston pistol cycling issues.
I can tell you this: I started out building 8" and 8.5" blackouts with "expensive" CMMG barrels. As an early adopter, I also had to go through the process of figuring out the loads that would cycle, and, like many I am sure I wanted to cobble up a perfect subsonic load! All the i...

Re: Has anyone loaded Speer TNT 125gr bullets with Lil'Gun
Just shot a batch of 125 grain Speer TNT bullets in front of 17.5 grains of Lil'gun. My chronograph was acting up so I don't have velocity numbers, but the cases showed absolutely no signs of high pressure. Over on www.ammoguide.com someone published stats that show over 2,200 fps with 125 grain ove...

Re: AAC 9 or 12.5 upper?
I have an 8.5" CMMG with pistol port that cycles very well. I did discover the "hard way" that shooting it witout an O-ring under the extractor was a guarantee of failure to eject and double feeds. With the O-ring the gun is 100% on even light loads. If you're thinking "pistol&qu...

Re: Failure to Clear Chamber
AR-300...you may be right...I remember when I last fired this particular upper I had a different BCG and it functioned 100%. Just pulled that BCG and discovered the bolt does have the O-ring/spring under the extractor. The bolt I was using today only had a tiny blue urethane bumper inside the spring...
