Re: Perferred optics for SBR build
I have a 3-9x40 Burris FullField II on the 16" and an Eotech 552 on the 8.5". The 8.5" is set up for subs only as that tube has a 3 lug on it for a 9mm can.

Subsonic against steel???
Am curious Guys, anyone shoot 220 or 225 gr OTMs against steel? Did you see projectiles break up or bounce?
Have some older T1 steel poppers and IPSC target centers that would be nice to shoot for practice if bounces are not a predictable result!
Thanks

Re: Best barrel suppressor combo for SBR
Good to understand your expected use ... subs or subs and supers. Make a difference in the can you might choose. For subs only, a barrel around 8" and an Octane 9HD2 with either a 3 lug or direct thread (depending on you desire for a quick release) works really well and isn't very heavy. Will a...

Re: Increasing port size on 8.5" CMMG barrel
The CMMG 8.5" barrel in my SBR came with a 0.089" port ... didn't work with subs at all.
Increased it to 0.120" and used a Paladin Machine Services 3 position gas block with an H buffer and CS spring. Works fine.

Re: 16" barrel w/ Pistol length gas
To answer the original question ... Paladin Machine Services makes what ever length AR barrel you want with pistol position gas ... and can provide a three position gas block (off, subsonic, supersonic). Is also licensed to make 338 Spectre barrels. Actually was the common way to build the 300-221 (...

Re: Best magazine for 300 blackout
I was looking for magazines that are obviously different than the mags I use for 5.56.
I tried the IWI 30 rnd M16 mags ... obviously different. Bottom feels different in the dark. Work like a champ! Cheap
So if it's a pmag, military mag, or a HK mag ... goes in a 5.56.

Octane 9 with 3 lug mount works nicely and is very convenient!

Re: Elk Hunting with the 300 BLK. What bullet would you choo
Minimum chambering for dangerous game in most of Africa is the .375 H&H. Some countries allow 9,3x62 and the 9,3x74R. The cape buffalo I took was hit 3 times with a .416 Rigby pushing 350 gr Barnes Xs at 2700 fps. Damn tough old beast!!! Same rifle and load knocked over a bison at 125 yards ... ...

Re: Subsonic Hand Loads
Never had any luck finding 1680 locally.
So I worked up loads with 2400. Burns clean, is velocity consistent, and yields good groups with 220 and 225 gr OTMs.
Works in both 8.5" and 16" barrels with pistol gas.

Re: KAK Mr. Blonde 9" Barrel - What length rail?
Closest I can come to it is: 300 BLK CMMG 8.5" tube with TROS 3 lug and 9 1/2" YHM light rail leaves 1/2" of the 3 lug exposed. 3 lug adapter adds abt 1 1/4" to barrel length. Shown here with Octane 9HD2 mounted. http://www.mstarling.com/Album/300BLK_SBR.jpg Is a handy length. Mu...
